Love Potion #9, 1992 - Two young nerdish researchers (of opposite sex) test a Gypsy chemical formula designed to make the user irresistible to the opposite sex.  Not hard to tell where this is going, right?  This bit of fluff stars Sandra Bullock and Tate Donovan and features Anne Bancroft as the old Gypsy fortuneteller.

Really fringe interest for this thread - but I like humorous movies related to the darker themes.  And this was actually better than I remembered.

Happy Accidents, 2000 - An independent oddity.  Stars Marisa Tomei and Vincent D'Onofrio.  Marisa is a woman who has had a string of unsuccessful relationships and is a bit wary of Vincent's attentions.  He finally wins her over and they seem to be happy until she discovers some unsettling cracks in his life story, whereupon he tells her he is actually from the future - over 400 years in the future.

This romantic comedy/sci-fi movie reminds me of the story of Keven Spacey as the alien PROT in "K-PAX".  The viewer is not sure what to believe is real or imagined.  "Happy Accidents" has a more definitive answer for its ending.

Cinematography is not the best.  Most, if not all, of the film is shot with a handheld camera - sans Steadicam.  The operator could have been a little smoother.

It ain't a great movie (kinda slow), but I like the odd ones - so I am glad I saw it.
