Phantom Stranger

'10 Cloverfield Lane' (2016)
-John Goodman, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, John Gallagher jr

Plot: IMDB
Soon after leaving her fiancé Michelle is involved in a car accident. She awakens to find herself sharing an underground bunker with Howard and Emmett. Has she been saved from an apocalyptical event as Howard & Emmett tell her or are there other motives for her being held against her will?

Phantom's Review:
Like 'Halloween III: Season Of The Witch' or 'Curse Of The Cat People' this film is a sequel to 'Cloverfield' in name only. There are no giant monsters, screaming crowds or found footage. This instead is a well acted, claustrophobic drama. John Goodman is fantastic and plays his character both as very sweet and then terrifyingly creepy. Mary Elizabeth Winstead is perfect as the young woman trying to escape and John Gallagher jr nails his character and brings a bit of humor to a very dark movie. There is a twist ending that MIGHT connect the two films but you don't need to see 'Cloverfield' to see this film. I was surprised by how good this movie was. I highly recommend it, but like I said before, don't expect big special FX or screams and gore.  Just good acting.
