I'd forgotten that was released by Image. It will, undoubtedly, be the best quality for that title. No way am I paying anything like those prices, but I wouldn't mind finding a boot copied from it.
The Image disc is copy-protected.  >:(   You can get a DVD-R on Amazon for 15 bucks.

Turns out the IMAGE DVD isn't all that great, either, though it still may be the best available.

I watched it last night and the picture and sound quality aren't very good compared to what we're used to today. Still, I doubt you'll find better. PRC product was bargain basement then and it still is, but they are entertaining.

The writers ignored continuity with the original Devil Bat. Part of the plot in ...Daughter has the characters finding Carruthers' papers that supposedly prove he wasn't a murderer?! In the original he was a twisted genius who was a scheming murderous scoundrel who used the Devil Bat to kill for petty revenge, even though it was he who was at fault for not cashing in on his cologne formulae. I still love the old PRCs and wish someone would do a collection of them in a box set.

Assuming that is a DVD, what label (or grey market seller) is it on and what do you think of the quality?

It was on dvd from the Image label, the print wasnt the best, but I've seen far worse.. :)

Don't know about Memph, but I have the old Image DVD release in the old cardboard DVD case that snaps over. I was checking Amazon for a pic and found these two totally ridiculous seller prices- $179 & $830! Dude, somebody's been smokin' the wacky weed:laugh:

It's been awhile since I watched it, but I don't remember sub-standard DVD quality in picture or sound.

Really! Are they crazy trying to sell that less than B-movie for this price?! It isnt the best quality print of the film in the first place..is it that rare now?  :o  $830...lol, I think I paid eight dollars and thirty cents for it when it was new/used.

I know, those prices are totally ridiculous. I can't even remember buying it but from the look of the case it must have been new at Media Play way back in the early 2000s. I was buying everything even remotely old and monster back then. Still do.  ;D  I guess it has some "collectible" value now in the original edition, but I wouldn't give over $20 for a "as new" copy of it even if I was ravenously seeking it. It's barebones and, like you say, the print quality leaves much to be desired. If I didn't have it already I would just buy a cheap boot and call it done.

Too bad no one has released a box set collecting those old PRC clunkers... er, I mean, gems.   Those things are like a burger and shake for your brain.  :)

You could do a 5 disc set with 2 movies per disc.

That would make a neat little package. Are all 10 PRCs PD?

A few years ago a friend and I traded copies of monster flicks we needed that the other one had. Pretty sure I have all 10 either on a legit release or a copy. My favorites are The Devil Bat (1940) (natch!  ;)) and The Strangler Of The Swamp (1946). Rosemary La Planche was very good.
