Watched Blade Runner 30th annivesary blue-ray last night. Think it looks real good. I know there are like 5 million versions of this film, but I was happy with director's cut. And Rutger Hauer is the man. Not as cool as he was in "The Hitcher," but  he's a maniac in BR.

Yeah I almost walked out of the theater during Zombie's Halloween II. I wasn't that crazy about his reboot to begin with, but the follow up was even worse. Just my opinion. The sad part is, I work in higher ed and a lot younger people like Rob Zombie's films and think the originals are cheesy. Sacrilege is you ask me.
Totally agree.

The originals are vastly superior to those crappy RZ remakes. I certainly have nothing against obscenity and profanity if used artfully with style and panache, but slathering it on like an idiot just drags the whole film into the garbage dump. RZ has psychological issues and it certainly looms large in some of his work (not all, but some). If the situation calls for a scalpel, Zombie often uses a gore-drenched fire ax. That said, I still enjoy some of his stuff. Some of his albums are very good- like Halloween Hootenanny, which is admittedly comprised of other artists' work. I also enjoyed House Of 1000 Corpses. But then, in The Devil's Rejects some of those aforementioned RZ psych crocks came to the fore and he totally glorified the most base of villainy. The guy's a psychological maelstrom.
ALWAYS MONSTERING...

I agree with both of youse guys. You have to be able to care about SOMEONE in the film. Every character in a RZ movie is more vile & unlikeable than the last one.

RZ's Halloweens had some great moments but for me it was the whole, make him into a run-of-the-mill psycho, instead of keeping his motives a mystery.  Loved House, Devil's Rejects and Lords of Salem but turning Michael (and the Halloween universe) into just another member of the Firefly clan was a huge misstep....and it sounds like his new flick, 31, is going to follow the same one trick pony outline.

I was really looking forward to his take on Broad Street Bullies but looks like that isn't going to happen.

Phantom Stranger

The Fog' (1980)
-Adrienne Barbeau

Plot: A Northern California fishing town, on it's 100th anniversary, becomes shrouded in a mysterious fog containing murderous ghosts seeking revenge for their deaths.

Phantoms Review: One of my favorite ghost stories. Creepy, atmospheric and well made. One of John Carpenters best.

The Return of Dracula (1958)

Batman: Assault on Arkham (2014)
This is an animated flick. I really liked it. A lot of action in it. In terms of monster value, King Shark is in the movie---he's one of my favorite DC universe monsters.  Appearances by the Joker and Bane too---pretty monstrous villains in their own right.

"The Shining" (1980) - This still bores me a little. I do appreciate it a lot more than when I first saw it, though.
