I know some people were dissapointed with Tom Jane's Punisher--but me, even as a hardcore comic/Frank Castle guy, I actually loved that movie. Plus he Jane did the video which to me made him the Punisher all the more. (dialouge with Nick Fury, Matt Murdock, Iron Man etc etc...solidified it for me.)

Sounds pretty good--and now we can get that crap taste of Warzone out of our mouth.

I liked his Punisher movie the best. Ray was a good Punisher, but that movie sucked. I would love to see Thomas come back for another big screen Punisher flick. Plus I met Thomas back at Chicago Comic Con in '06 and he is a very cool guy.

All the Punisher movies are bad in one way or another. I actually think the Dolph Lundgren movie, for all that it gets wrong, is actually the most entertaining one. However, Thomas Jane is far and away the best actor to take on the character. I'd love to see him get another shot at the character in a better script and better film.

It amazes me that by far, the easiest character to keep true to origin..they just never get right. With that--Thomas Jane is the best of the bunch, I can deal with his origin being slightly different. At first I had a hard time with his overall look, but it grew on me and now when I think "Movie Punisher"--Tom Jane gets my vote.

Like Howler said Ray was a good Punisher and I really don't think you're gonna find a guy that looked more like Frank Castle walked out off the pages of War Journal comic--but that movie was borderline unwatchable. Wow what a giant pile of crap. It was just awful.

Thomas Jane also is vocal about loving the character. That says alot to me. Supposedly he worked out on his own like a madman to be a "better Punisher"--he's been to many comic conventions talking to fans and again, did a phenomenal job with the voice over for the video game. If all of these things dont make him a true fanboy and "Marvel Movie" character--I don't know what does.

So he wasn't USMC--big deal--if they wouldve went that route then the film would have to have taken place when he came home from Vietnam and couldn't be set in the present. People keep complaining about this......super heroes don't age, you can't always follow continuity word for word from the comics in the movies, it wont always work. Avengers was tweaked, Batman was tweaked. People actually bitch that Punisher's origin in this film is slightly off--why does no one bitch that Spider-Man had organic webbing in the film when in the comic, save for 2099 which sucks, he used "web cartridges".

I'm a comic dork, but you have to give a little bit of room for changes here and there to make these stories work on film.

The reason the Jane Punisher was such a different movie was because of the very small budget they had. It was something like 12 million when most action movies get like 100 million. For they movie they had I think they did a great job. I would love to see Thomas Jane come back and kick some more ass as the Punisher.

I'm with you Howler--I love the movie and think they did a fantastic job with what they had to work with.

Glad to see Jane comming back and reprising his role..and from what the link says, it sounds pretty cool.

So many good scenes in the Punisher..Harry Heck scene was epic, the Russian scene was awesome...when he was infiltrating Saint's house that was the quintessential Punshier. Web gear, compound bow...the fight scene were he stuck the knife under the guy's mouth--sounds like a good Punisher to me!

The Harry heck scene is my favorite. I'm so glad they put that song on the soundtrack. Let us not forget the beautiful Rebecca Romijn Stamos in the movie.

Yeah she was hot in that...and everything else she's in lol.

That was great how he made short work of her scumbag boyfriend too. I love the Russian scene, especially when he hits the drawer and pulls out the revolver--when the barrel bends, the face he makes when he looks at it was priceless!

If i remember right Thomas and Kevin did almost all of that fight scene themselves. falling down the stairs wasn't them, but Castle busting through the wall was all Thomas.

I agree with Rod and seed_murda. If you took parts of the last two they still don't add up to a movie that is worthy of the character.

They need to use Ennis' run on the MAX series as the basis. I understand you would probably have to update his origin from Vietnam, but leave out lame villains for him such as Jigsaw and no Hollywood BS. Make it dark and gritty. An underground flavor, a street story. Make it a movie fit for Frank Castle's vengeance.

That being said, I'm hopeful for a whup ass Punisher movie soon.

For the record, the Dolph one was an abomination of the character. It was before Marvel knew how to make a comic book movie.

That movie was straight ridiculous...at best it was a TV Movie and a bad one at that. I think the only good thing to come out of it is the begining to Biohazard's "Punishment."

Also as far as dark and gritty go--that shouldve been what Marvel did with Ghost Rider. There couldve been the Avenger movies and an actual on screen "Marvel Knights" group of comic books movies that shouldve been Ghost Rider, Daredevil and Punisher.

These movies should be a cross between Batman, The Warriors and something along the lines of Terminator/Predator....hardcore action.

Punisher just makes the cut, though it's not dark enough to hold much rank in "dark, urban and gritty"

Ghost Rider is pretty much a kid friendly caricature of Blaze and GR...and Daredevil was by far the worst comic movie I've ever seen--or atleast a tie with Fantastic Four.

We have Avengers, do Marvel Knights......and bring Blade back for that!!

Thomas Jane was a great Punisher, just the script was cruddy. He refused to do "War Zone" after reading the awful screenplay. He was pretty good in "Deep Blue Sea" and "The Mist," too.
