I dont understand this thread? Why should anyone be so concerned with how they are viewed by others? Do what makes you happy, why hide it? If you find someone that compliments what you are , then great! If not, then you obviously wont be happy anyway..... speaking from experience here. And as far as worrying about the looks of a girl to bring home to your parents!?? Seriously? If you found a person that you liked and they made you happy you wouldnt consider them an option simply due to what your parents views of them were?? Maybe thats why you have trouble, worrying about everyone elses hang ups shouldnt be your concern IMO..
I agree. This thread is like a crappy soap opera, and it just keeps dragging on like one. Geez, guys, what's all this mental pablum got to do with anything fun? Much less, monsters?  ???
ALWAYS MONSTERING...

Dr.Terror

Who needs girls when you have monster toys anyways?   ;)  I'll take an Aurora kit over scoring with a chick any day of the week.
Morning, noon, or night, Anytime . . . . the count may strike. If you're caught you have to linger, Cause Dracula may bite your finger!

Mord

Yeah, but you might want someone (preferably with breasts) to play monster wars with your Sideshow figures.

To enjoy horror/Monster films implies a darkside. you have ... an interest in the creepy. "Normal" people find that strange while we here do not.

You're flat out wrong! Every little boy likes creepy things, or at least they did when I was a kid, and there's nothing strange about that. Twould be strange if a little boy was not interested in "creepy" things, quite simply because they're fun!

Consider these items here that drew me into monster fandom when I was a kid:

Topps You'll Die Laughing

Leaf Spook Stories

Topps Mars Attacks

Horror of Dracula trailer

King Kong vs Godzilla Trailer (In English)

There was nothing "strange" about liking these things. In fact, it would have been strange not to like these things. And you know why? Because they were fun! Yes, fun! And you know everybody reading this post right now is nodding their heads so vigorously in agreement that their drool cups are coming loose.

Darkside? Forget that. We like this stuff because it's fun.

This is how I always have viewed the situation.  And my monsters agree.

That is why I found this conversation so strange to begin with.  After all, the only real creeps in the world are the ones who don't like monsters.

horrorhunter

Hepcat is correct. If we practiced some of the activities in horror movies (serial killing, torture, necrophilia) then we would have that "dark side" that keeps getting bandied about. As it is we just watch movies and collect toys. Normal is a relative term. We are normal for monster movie enthusiasts, and others are just a bit boring. Scoring with chicks is big fun, but this thread reads more like Dear Abby than anything remotely titillating. If you guys are diggin' this then, by all means, Dear Abby it up,dudes. . There's only one answer to the question which is the title to this thread, anyway. At the beginning.

Im NOT goth ( like at all ), as I've stated before.
I am, however,
eccentric,
rambunctious,
quirky,
old fashioned,
multifaceted,
eclectic,
weird,
crazy .( No. Insane actually. ., among other things. )
&
connoisseur of all things interesting, artsy, morbid, antiquated, macabre or just plain awesome !!!

and looking " lively"...  you have no idea !! Thats one of the biggest understatements of the century !!!!  lol lol

btw.. in MEMBERS ONLY forum, theres an entire thread with members pics, and I already have pics there,
I only put one here, to show you a side by side comparison of how much i am NOT goth.. lol . but for whatever reason, you still think I am.. lol
if you go look at all my regular pics on that thread,
combine them with the pics of my house,
combined with the subject matter of all my tattoos,
you would know me a whole lot better.  and possibly " get me" .
jus sayin'

Oh.. and definitely far from " exotic" .. that just made me laugh. Im like sooo kinda boring . I like comic books & monsters .* pushes up my glasses. . lol

I'm not sure about exotic but i would say you are a different slice of life. Which is awesome! :D

You know, if so many people don't get this thread or don't like this thread then here's a thought, don't read it? Why read something you don't want to read? I mean seriously. It's no wonder I've been sent so many private responses saying the opposite of what many here have expressed. They must be afraid of being ganged up upon. It doesn't matter to me if someone doesn't like what I post or not. But why complain about it? If you don't want to participate or don't get it then you don't need to participate but don't bother those people who do. Amen.

Huh? People have said many different things in this thread. What's the "opposite" then of what's been expressed?

???

Maybe how it's bogus that women don't find despearation an endearing trait when it comes to dating a guy.

Take it easy, man. I can't speak for anyone else, but my posts regarding this thread were mostly just joking around to spice things up a little. I'm sorry if you took it the wrong way. I meant nothing personal against you. The only part I was even serious about was that you should tell the person you're dating at the beginning if you are a monster geek. A lot of ribbing happens around here, and most of it is good natured. No harm meant.
ALWAYS MONSTERING...

Wizard_Of_Ed

I've been sent PM's from people saying you should never tell a girl.

Some of those posts sounded serious and that's why I took them as such. This is a big place and if you really don't like a thread then don't participate in it is all I'm saying. I don't complain about threads I disagree with or don't get and I see it pointless to complain about threads people are participating in. I wasn't being snippy or anything. I just don't get that. If it was meant in ribbing I apologize.

Haunted hearse

Not telling someone your dating about something your passionate about is a fantastic way, when things develop, to have to deal with the potential of a mate that doesn't enjoy something you're passionate about.  When you move in together, just make sure your collection is kept off the floor of the basement you may be allowed to keep it in, so it doesn't get damaged when you have flooding.  Enjoy a lifetime of somebody rolling their eye's because of the contempt they have for your passion.  An alternative is to sell your collection on Ebay, so you can afford that honeymoon she'll have planned for the both of you.

Wizard_Of_Ed

That is why I started this thread; asking if there is a right way or a wrong way to introduce a girl to it. You know there are things like that where if you come on too strong like a circus sideshow to the other person on any subject things turn cold rather quickly but sometimes those same things grown on each other as things develop. Hence my question.
