I don't think the pipe is necessary in this shot. Rathbone had a moustache as Wolf, so no moustache = Holmes. The pipe is superfluous and obviously 'Shopped in. Almost looks like a Color-forms piece stuck to the pic.

Here you go Count:

One of my favorite Holmes, is Peter Cushing.  Too bad Hammer never attempted to do a Holmes/Dracula film.

Lee also did a Holmes.
Perhaps they could have done another Lee-Cushing production; but it'd probably been too visually close to the standard VanHelsing-Dracula schtick.
Maybe I'll give it a go later...

Much of the music from the Universal Monster films can be heard in such films as THE SCARLET CLAW as well as other Holmes films.  The music during Lon Chaney jr.'s death scene in SON OF DRACULA was part of the Sherlock Holmes theme music used from SHERLOCK HOLMES AND THE VOICE OF TERROR  and all subsequent Universal Holmes films.

Something very like this is getting set to go into production! Although looks to have more of a Hammer influence. And, it reunites "Young Sherlock Holmes" stars Nicholas Rowe and Alan Cox, and has the actual Baron Clement von Franckenstein as Baron Karl von Frankenstein. John Lebar, who plays The Monster, is 7-foot-3!

"Quite a good scene, isn't it? One man crazy — three very sane spectators."

Supposedly in the early 70's a Holmes/Dracula film was being considered by Hammer Films, to star Lee and Cushing.  Sadly, it was never made.
