Wolf Man

I just received my copy of IWTW DVD in the mail and enjoyed watching it so thought I would offer this review.

I purchased this from Sasquatch Video.  They advertise this DVD is an import.  It plays in English with no subtitles.  The DVD is slightly blurry but that could be because I am used to high definition and this is definately not High Def or perhaps they copied it from a VHS tape who knows.  I got past the slight blurriness and enjoyed it just the same.  If you decide to purchase it keep in mind to watch after the end credits.  It plays a classic Betty Boop spooky cartoon with Cab Callaway.  It also has a classic Donald Duck cartoon.  Both were pleasant surprises.  Below is the web site and a copy of the box art.  If you are looking for other very hard to find films on DVD they have some real surprises.  I do wish though they would just release this in a really good transfer in high definition and get it over with so we could finally own it in its best format.

Oh yeah, almost forgot, the DVD comes pretty quick and the company is decent to deal with so far.  I also ordered a little known movie, The Keep.  Can't believe that one isn't on main stream DVD.

Bonomo

I finally watched this one recently and I actually really liked Landon's performance

Wolf Man

His performance was intense and although I kept wondering if he would remind me of Little House on the Prairie or Bonanza I really did not think of either.  He showed a lot of promise like a James Dean type.

I thought the same thing. Rebel without a Cause with fangs.

You know, his career could have gone in such a different direction if he had stuck to those intense dramatic roles.   I mean more dramatic than Little House.

I assume it's a DVD-R.

Would they DVD R from a VHS tape?  Or is that one they recorded from the actual TV?  I have some of those from Amazon (although I try to avoid them) and the ones I got had much better definition.

The DVD-Rs can be excellent (From Hell it Came looks fantastic). Depends on the source of course. Amazing that a few titles remain unreleased officially. I've got the original one-sheet poster, although it's got a bit of damage. And yea, it'd be great if we could have everything in hi-def. So far we have Day the Earth Stood Still, Forbidden Planet, Island of Lost Souls, Metropolis, Diabolique, Psycho, etc, and a handful in the pipeline (Invasion of the Body Snatchers!)...

Unknown Primate

I recorded IWATWW and IWATF on vhs off of AMC (when it was still cool).  I should probably get them transferred to dvd.

I always thought a Teenage Werewolf vs Teenage Frankenstein movie, which they explored in HOW TO MAKE A MONSTER, would have been awesome!

The story of IWATWW was told on here in another thread someplace.  As I understand it a lady owns the rights to it and a number of other titles and won't release them because she thinks they are worth so much more money than they are.  She won't accept that it is a very limited market and most of that market are "us" right here.  I am sure most of us would pay a normal rate between 15 to 20 bucks for an official released version but once we all bought our copies the market would quckly die out.  She could make a quick buck if she released them but after that not so much.

I think the hang-up is with Jim Nicholson's estate. Bummer. :(
