That trailer was great, never seen The Creeping Terror, but I intend to now. As for Plan 9 it's been awhile since I watched it but I've always enjoyed it, Funny, right now I'm watching Ed Wood.

So did I last night!!!!   ;D

Huge Ed Wood fan here. I love Plan 9 and have seen it numerous times. There is just something about it that other very bad films don't have. It's like everyone involved (except Lugosi, obviously) knows that it's terrible and they are just having fun. It's a joy to watch, and I try to do so, often.

One thing I always liked about Wood was he tried to make a movie no matter what limitations he dealt with.  And he seemed to get people around him that felt the same way.  Having been there, I know what it's like to grab some shower curtains to hang in a cockpit or change things around to fit what you have.  It's all a part of the joy of creating something.  No longer worrying about being perfect, just being.

Vampira, Tor Johnson, and Lugosi all in the same place (basically) - is my idea of heaven. And that whole bit about "Your stupid Minds! Stupid!..." is pretty much how I feel about humans on a very regular basis.
I'll be surfin' in your blood on a Saturday night!

Well said and I think when I was younger this was an issue I had with it. Dracula for the longest time, next to JAWS and Empire Strikes Back was the greatest thing I had ever seen (I say longest time like it still isn't the greatest thing..what?? anyway)....with that Lugosi was like a hero to me in his rolls. So seeing him in Plan 9 was almost a downer. Like you say, I got this sense that "everyone is trying super hard to be good at not sucking" and it's fun to watch...then there's Bela who sticks out like a sore thumb.

I love the film, but still every damn time I watch it I get that slight feeling of "how the mighty have fallen."

When I interviewed the cast & writers of "Mystery Science Theater 3000," they said "Plan 9" was the one film they'd never do. It was just too easy a target. Ten years later, and Michael J. Nelson did it twice for RiffTrax. Once by himself, and again with Kevin Murphy and Bill Corbett.

As a few other posters have said, I've always looked beyond the obvious where Ed Wood is concerned. Yes, his stuff was truly awful on technical level, but I love the fact that he was trying. You can see the enthusiasm in his horror efforts. I'm sure, in his mind, every time he started another film that it would be the most terrifying movie ever made. Graveyards, vampires, mad doctors, laboratories, aliens, the walking dead, Bela Lugosi, Tor Johnson, etc. I have to admire a guy who got out there and did his creative best - not that there was much to work with in that department! He ignored the fact that he had no budget or anywhere near the resources that  Hollywood filmmakers had at their fingertips. He just forged ahead and made what he thought were great films. I believe that he never, ever, set forth to make a bad movie. For that matter, I don't believe he ever thought he made a bad movie!

Plan 9 is just pure fun. Sure, it's unpolished and corny. The budget was miniscule and the effects were amateurish. But, it is INTERESTING. It has the trappings of a great horror movie....freaky plot, aliens, undead, great stars (Bela, Tor, and Vampira). Ed Wood reminds me of when we were kids with our 8mm movie cameras filming our latest horror epic. He had childlike enthusiasm and it shows. It's what made Plan 9 so enjoyable. In years since people have made many multi-million dollar films which fell far short of Plan 9 in entertainment value.
ALWAYS MONSTERING...

I'd rather watch "Plan 9" than "Dork Shadows".

Ain't that the truth. I'd rather watch a continual loop of Plan Nine, for an entire year, than sit through one more viewing of The Village.

Well, the great thing is, with RiffTrax technology, Mike, Kevin, and Bill should have "Dork Shadows" shredded within 3 weeks of its DVD/BRD release.

The first time I saw Plan Nine, when I was 13, it was a big event. I had read about the film and how it was supposed to be one of the worst movies ever made (thank you. Medvedev brothers). As I always did, I had scanned the TV Guide and saw a showing of Plan 9 at 3 am on Saturday! I was excited, but worried that my folks wouldn't let me see it. But they were so cool. We had a sleepover with three of my equally weird friends. My older brother and his girlfriend also stayed up for it. I recall watching Saturday Night Live, then dozing for a bit before it came on. The combination of pizza, late night, and Ed Wood produced some very strange dreams, let me tell you.

But I love Plan 9 for all its patheticness. It's silly and a bit creepy, and certainly surreal. And that sleepover was a bonding experience; one of those friends, whom I had not seen in 25 years, friended me on Facebook and we were joking about Plan 9!

See, that's what MonsterKid-dom is all about. Bonding and sharing with like-minded ghouls. Heck, that's how I found YOU!!  :D
