Ok so last night I went out to a show to support my friend's band, The Wait. They're like indie rock, some punk and post hardcore infusion etc etc...good dudes. Anyway last night they were on the bill with a few punk bands, one is pretty big around here (north Jersey is VERY big into old school punk and Dingbatz in Clifton, is the mecca.)

So I see these guys loading in and from the looks of them I thought they were gonna be some lame, generic rock band. Then they got onstage. Slowly I found myself walking away from the conversation at the bar, taking my beer and getting closer to the stage.....then, so did 90% of the place. These guys had incredible energy! The singer had legs made of springs and jumped around the entire time. I thought it was great that he was wearing a vintage gym shirt of a local high school too.

Anyway I found them on FB and just sent the message as to why the hell they didn't have any merch?! Nothing!

I did however find a clip of them at the Meatlocker--which in my opinion is the worst place to play a show in the history of shows, but for some reason people like it. Here is the clip.

If Mental Decay's performance last night was a 10, this is about a 3...and part of the reason is because the stage at Dingbatz is waaaay bigger than Meatlockers...and believe me these guys used it!

MENTAL DECAY AT THE MEATLOCKER

On a side note, metal is some kind of "infection". Everytime I go to a "real" punk show I have the absolute best time with awesome people, plus being in a punk area...metal being an infection is the only reason I can come up with that for as much as I appreciate and admire punk, I've always played in metal bands.

Damn!  That was freakin' crazy!  Wish I had that energy - I do perspire pretty good, though.  A few cute chicks there, too.  Thanks for posting this, Jess.

Anytime Mark, as far as cute girls go...you shouldve seen the crowd last night, a ton of hotties.

I actually just got off the chat with one of the members on Facebook, I asked if they wanted to play a mixed genre show and if I could cop a t-shirt and cd. He was super cool about playing and told me I could have one on the house at their next show on the 12th.

Good stuff...those dudes rock.

Pretty cool. It would be cool to see them at a place with a good sound system.

You hit the nail on the head with that one. I played that place and couldnt hear myself over the band..it's pretty much the worst P.A. and accoustics you've ever heard in your life. Not only that, it's a basement..there is no bar and when you load in you have to double park on the worst street in the history of traffic and carry crap down stairs. As a local musician myself...I hate that place and have no idea why everyone is so happy to play in that garbage pit.

Where they were last night...the sound guy is burnt but he's cool. He  did sound for both Bruce Springsteen and Judas Priest--you have tinnitus for days and the stage is a "real" stage.

Seeing 6 guys up there upstage bands that were 1/2 their age was worth the 10.00 cover. Those guys rock!
