What is your first memory of Godzilla? I was thinking about this the other day and I really don't have a 'first' memory of him. Godzilla is one of those classic monsters that are woven into the fabric of our modern day culture. My sister used to have Japanese students stay with her for a couple of months at a time, on an exchange program. Some of them didn't have a lot of English language skills, but their eyes would light up when I mentioned Godzilla and they would make a real effort to talk about him.

I'm not sure if you know or not, but Godzilla fans are a little weird! For instance, did you know that there are people out there who actually know and care about what each Godzilla suit looked like in each movie..........Ooops, there goes half my audience :D

I am sure that if you told most movie audiences that their beloved Godzilla was about to meet a new monster, they would head directly to the cinema. If you let slip that Godzilla would battle a giant moth  :o, then most audiences would ............... ::)
So the 'creative' American marketing team went to work and issued the following poster, to draw in the crowds. In 1964, Japanese movie audiences went to see Mothra Versus Godzilla, but Americans went to see Godzilla Versus The Thing.
And some people thought the Aurora box art was misleading!

Crank up the volume.... the louder the better......
Godzilla Vs The Thing Trailer 1964

Godzilla doesn't look quite so frightening here.

My 2 cents
This is another quality kit from Black Heart. It comes wrapped in a beautiful, clear strong plastic bag and surrounded by a box full of peanuts.
The kit is well cast (Minnefex), has only minor seam lines and with only 2 parts, will be a pretty easy build. I'll be adding metal rods through the lower
jaw into the head, to fully support the weight of the jaw and to prevent any mishaps.
Bill Wieger has done a great sculpting job with Big G, from the skin to the mouth, teeth and tongue. Thanks Bill!
Apart from wishing it was twice as big :D  I'm super happy with it! You can't go wrong ordering through George. Are you thinking Christmas present?

The Sculptor
Every review should have a photo of the sculptor hard at work. This is Bill Wieger putting some finishing touches to the sculpt.

The Kit - At Last.......
The kit comes in 2 parts - the hollow cast head and the solid cast lower jaw and tongue.

I added this shot just to show that Godzilla is looking slightly to his left. Bill obviously
wanted to add a sense of motion to him, rather than a traditional straight on approach.

Great detail on the roof of the mouth and check out those fangs!

Lower jaw and tongue. This part is solid cast and looks great.
Bill 'monster' Jones reckons he's never seen a better rendition of the '64 tongue.  :)

Rear of the lower jaw showing the locating part. Enough detail for you?
If you are wondering if those are pinholes on the locating part and back of the tongue,
well yes.... 3 large pinholes where they will never be seen. The rest is perfect.

The lower jaw isn't a 'precision' fit, but it is close. If you've got a dremel and some carbon paper, you're fine.
Or you could just putty around it, as is. You'll be able to tell your friends that you 'built' this. :)

And so with a little blu-tac, the lower jaw is on. I think he looks pretty impressive.
You can see that he is looking slightly to his left.
Did I mention this is the '64 version?

Looks like a dead-ringer to me. I bet Mike Wallace could show me how to achieve some
radioactive breath coming out of this bad boy.

Apart from the movies, I'm not really into dinos and Godzilla. But I do LOVE this one.

If Steve Parke can post those 'moody shots'........... Looks pretty ferocious now!
Just imagine it is night time, buildings are ablaze in the distance, you run around a street corner and you look UP......

Another hi-tech shot.... OR, take a photo set to go off with the flash, but cover the flash
with your hand....... intentionally.

The Pool Room (If you haven't seen the Aussie movie The Castle, I highly recommend it)
Matt K (not sure if Matt is a member here, but he goes by NM 156 at other forums) has kindly allowed me to use his
beautiful photos of his fantastic build and paintwork. Thanks Matt!

Very cool kit and paint job!

Oh My Godzila, that is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen!! The '64 Godzilla is my favorite version and this kit is dead on accurate! I wish i could afford one-maybe someday!
Crazy am I? We'll see if I'm crazy or not!

Big G looks great!  That really would'ave been awesome at twice the size!
