Man I wish Universal would release this already (or I wish I could find a decent bootleg, I already have a bad one).

The movie made a particular impression on me when I saw it in the 70's since I think it was the first time I ever saw someone beheaded on camera.

You can watch the MST3k version on YouTube.

This was one of my favorites as a kid, too, maybe because when I started watching it, I had no preconceptions of whatit would be about, just the title in the TV guide.

Yeah, saw it at the Eastman House. Wasn't that the first movie to show a beheading?

Likewise, I wish this was out on an official release. I have fond memories of catching this on a late night TV show, probably a Shock Theatre.
As a Dark Shadows fan, I find this one especially of interest and it heavily influenced the 1840/Judah Zachery story, with a headless warlock also attempting to reclaim his lost body. Both had great creepy moments.
I would say the film seemed long and drawn out in my memory, but the end had a great payoff.

My music is for Phoenix. Only she can sing it. Anyone else who tries, dies.

This is now available on DVD for the first time via MOD at Warner video. The print looks good and it's nice to finally have it out on disc at last.

I wish they would put out Curse of the Undead, too and finish the '50s movies.

I certainly hope "Curse Of The Undead"  makes it to DVD soon, my VHS copy is wearing thin.

Universal Steve

I was at an indoor flea market about 2 years ago and saw this movie on DVD. It had to be a bootleg or MOD.  It had a nice case and cover of the poster with liner notes on the back. You could tell it was copied off a 35mm print. The film jumped just for a second in the credits but the the rest was fine. Not bad for $3.00.

The remake Naschy made of this, Horror Rises From The Tomb, is rreally good as well.

I liked the film as a child and had not seen it since ( I believe it was on Creature Feactures back then ) last year I finally I found a boot that was not too bad and enjoyed the film all over again.

It's great how these old films bring back the joy of the suspense and fright you felt the first time seeing them as well as all the other related memories of the day

Agreed, this was one of those forgotten films stored in my memory.  A friend of mine got a decent boot of it and as we watched it I remember seeing it as a kid though had forgotten it since.

Any one else had that happen with a vintage film?   Another one that I had forgotten as a child was Pharoh's Curse, once I saw the arm ripping off scene  it all came back to me as I had vaguely remembered that part.
