Just to be clear, the picture of the Aurora Monster Colors I posted was not meant as an illustration of a repro.

It had to be resin. The original mutoscope was styrene, not blowmold.

Now I'm confused. I thought styrene plastic was blow molded. Blow molding results in what then? The more rubbery plastic from which plastic buckets are made?

Blow mold, think Halloween pumpkin bucket.

Yes, and styrene is model kit plastic.

Yes, that I know.

So the Frankenstein Monster Bike Buddy and the Renzi Monster Car would be blow molds then?

Yes. and the Frankenstein Speaker and Halloween bucket, Renzi King Kong Bank (and all those big 60s character banks-Batman, Planet of the Apes, etc.), the "Big Frankie" Frankenstein Bank, the recent Bela Lugosi Dracula yard light, etc.- all blow mold plastic.

I own one of Samjo's resin bike buddies. Surprisingly enough, it's not that heavy. Samjo cast it much like an Aurora recast. It's not solid resin.

Is the Renzi Kong bank 60s or 70s?  What about that similar bubble bath container?

I have one or two Renzi POTA banks.  They can't be 60s, because they are from my childhood in the 70s.  Unless they were reissued or just hung around in stores a long time.

There was a lot of stuff from the 60s still be sold in the 70s, including POTA stuff. Figure too, POTA came out in 1968, and the sequels every couple of years after. BENEATH came out in 1970, and was the second in the series of five.

Lots of 60s toys were still in stores in the 70s, often severely marked down. As late as 1974, I knew of a couple of stores still selling some of the original Aurora kits for 25c each. There was a store in my home town that had 60s/70s toys well into the 80s. They had Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In Rub-Ons and some other sets (paint sets I think) on the shelves into the 90s!

I definately remember the Kong-ish banks in the late 60s, and judging by the amount of survivors they must have sold a ton of them over many years.

Toys were definitely on the shelves longer back then, especially here in the middle of nebraska. Many of the toys I had as a kid in the 70s and 80s would have came out to early for me being born in 73 -ahi's, megos, redline hotwheels, 12" gi joes. But I had them, and remember seeing them on the racks at woolworths and Kmart.
Mirabile dictu,don't you agree?
