Leeman - It sounds more fun than maddening ..   At least it's not boring or dull. You also have the knowledge that you, yourself got rid of/sold your toys and that no one stole them or tossed them out.

If you're not selling the house, there isn't a rush and you can go at your own pace.  Life is strange and you might come across a treasure trove or two and then we can all watch you on the Antiques Road Show.   ;)

So the little nasty is at the door and wants to come in.....well, twist the top of Time Bomb....set it by the door....and tell the slime-sucker to come on in! He's sure to be mesmerized by the loud ticking and will hesitate just long enough for Time Bomb to explode! This is one of the truly great toys of the '60s. Simple, but a ton of fun.

Hep......this quiz is for you......please explain the logo in the corner of the box's lid.......

Holy crap!!! Is that what Batman carried on the pier?? "Some days you just can't get rid of a bomb!"

Ahhhhh, Time Bomb was clearly a collaborative effort between Milton-Bradley, producers of Monooly which was the single most iconic board game of the twentieth century, and Marvin Glass Studios, the most prolific and creative toy designers of the latter half of the twentieth century.

Flower - Thanks as always for the comments.  I am trying to get onto the Antiques Road Show.  It's not as easy as you might think.  First of all, they might only come to your city once every few years.  And when they do, it's not an open session that you can just walk into.  You have to apply for tickets, and then a certain number of people are picked at random.  I have been trying for a number of years and haven't gotten in yet.  They are coming to Chicago again this July, and I have applied.  So keep your fingers crossed for me.  From what I understand, you are allowed 2 items, but an entire collection of like items may be considered only 1 item.  That's what I'm hoping for if I can score a ticket.

bigbud - That ticking Time Bomb is one of the coolest things I have ever seen.  I would have had a BLAST (pun intended) with that thing as a kid.  But then I probably would have broken it the first day I had it.  That thing just screams to be thrown into a neighbors backyard while they are BBQ-ing.

I didn't quite get to making my video yet, but I did spend an hour or so carefully unrolling one of the old rolls of caps.  They were all kind of stuck together, so it was kind of a pain to do it without having it all fall apart.  Took another 25 minutes to try to feed it into the gun itself without it disintegrating. I'm sure that all was much easier to do with 10 year old fingers and eyesight than it is now.   ;)

I'm not very experienced with making Youtube videos, and trying to string together 2 videos into one was a pain, but I think I finally got it uploaded.  And hearing the sound of my own voice... yikes.

But I promised a video of my old cap gun firing, so here it is.  Cheap camera being out of focus and all.

Be kind.   ;)

Very well done, Lee.  :)

Since you mentioned living in Chicago, do you know Dennis Druktenis of Scary Monsters fame? He lives in Highwood. Just curious.
ALWAYS MONSTERING...

Thanks!

No, I don't know him personally.  But if he attends any of the small horror cons that have been popping up in the Chicago burbs over the last 10 years or so, there is a good chance that I have ran into him.

Leeman,

Very entertaining video ..  ;D

*I know that this is silly but when I heard 'Belmont Ave.' I thought about Sara Paretsky's V.I. Warshawski  series of books as V.I.would  often go to a diner on Belmont Avenue.    :D

Ok..so this put some serious fire-power in the hands of the neighborhood soldiers back in 1964. This is Remco's Monkey Division Okinawa Gun. It is 36 inches long and fires red bullets that are 3 1/2 inches long. How cool! Has an ammo belt, and a front bipod. It is (in my opinion) designed after the military M-60 machine gun.
