I didn't have one, but I'd have wanted this:

1964 JOHNNY SEVEN OMA TOY GUN COMMERCIAL

In reality, it would have been this  :o

The big-brother to the Rabbit Hunt by Marx was the set with a bear. I always thought the bear looked very cool. OK,OK........ here's a not too hard quiz.......In what movie does a mailman profess his childhood dream of getting a Johnny 7 OMA for Christmas?    Buddy

Quote from: bigbud on July 29, 2011, 09:11:59 PMOne false legend was that the M-16 actually used in Viet Nam was produced by Mattel. Actually the first versions of the military M-16 had plastic grips manufactured by Mattel.....and these grips had the Mattel logo on them. Complaints soon let to removal of the logo on the grips....

Super cool!

But who on earth complained? The Viet Cong?

My choice:

A Hamilton's Invaders Grenade Pistol. I have not just one but two of these beauties so I can blast away at ne'er do well ghouls, zombies and assorted riffraff with both hands! Take that - and that, vermin!

That was the ultimate in living room weaponry alright. Evidently a lot of kids wanted one because it was the best selling toy of the year in 1964.

Can't go wrong with an U.N.C.L.E. issued deterrent.  Great for Thrush Agents, monsters, and the occational sibling.

I loved the Man from UNCLE show and that set has unbeatable graphics! Unfortunately it goes for a hefty price at auction these days. I've been outbid a couple of times when it's come up in Hake's memorabilia auctions.

The OMA is one cool item, but ultimate.......maybe, maybe not. I'll assemble my Defender Dan and get some pics......Dan is my choice for the ultimate in kid firepower!   Buddy

So you are in the bath tub and surfacing through the soap bubbles is a 6" Marx Creature From the Black Lagoon! What ya gonna grab to put down this finned fiend!?  Johnny Seven OMA?  No.... Mattel M-16? No..... Man From Uncle or Bond Attache guns?  No.... Rubber Auburn jack-knife? Heck NO!  Don't panic, I got your weapon for this green slimmer! This is the Remco Voyage To The Bottom Of The Sea Submarine gun set! Same design as the Remco Monkey Gun, but in ultra-cool colored plastic. This gun differs only in that a plastic/cardboard barrel can be attached over the pistol barrel (in pics). There is a shortage of underwater weaponry out there, so this bad-boy could be used to tame any number of underwater nasties! Ha!  Buddy

While I have to agree that the awesome Remco Voyage To The Bottom Of The Sea Submarine gun would be the ideal personal defense weapon in this case, were I a lawyer I'd be ready and eager to take on the Creature's  defamation of character suit for being called a "slimmer" instead of a "slimer".

Scatter......what do ya say we recruit afew girl scouts, invade and conquer Canada and rename it Budanada? As spoils of conquest you can have Hepcat's cat and I'll carry off his comics and models. But let's wait till mosquito season is good and over up there first......Buddy

Here is a great weapon system for the backyard......this is the Clipfire .223 Combat Set AR/15 Weapon System. Long name for such fun! Has Assault Rifle, cliploading magazine, combat badge, bayonet, grenade launcher, rocket grenade, clip belt w/clip pouch, and cap storage in the rifle's handle. Really a neat gun set.  Dated 1966. Not quite the gun that the Mattel M-16 is, but still a sweet suprise against little Billy nextdoor with his red clicker-pistol......Ha!    Buddy
