The crazed soldier puts this one over the top!

But what or how does it repeat fifty shots? Is it a cap gun? Do you cock it so that it works mechanically, or do you pump it so that it works by air pressure? And the hide-a-way pistol does the same somehow?

???

It's a cap firing gun...both of them. Looks like it would be a ruff assignment to stuff a 50 cap roll in that little pistol! I ain't up for it!

Topps in 1950 issued the Freedom's War card set dealing with the Communist menace in general and the Korean War in particular. The set provided pictures of plenty of spectacular gun action. The cards were sold individually with gum in packs for a penny and in five cent packs for three two-card panels. Here are front and back scans of some of my two-card panels:

Here's a scan of a one cent wrapper:

Those cards may as well have come out yesterday! North Korea still thinks the war is on..........

Bowman in 1951 responded to Topps' Freedom's War cards with a 48 card set entitled Fight the Red Menace - Children's Crusade Against Communism. Some of the cards were issued on beige stock and some on grey stock. Here are a few more scans of mine:

This is a Marx Thunderguns Rifle Pistol and Holster Set. Dated 1955-60.  The pistol measures 12 inches long and the rifle is 35 inches long. The holster is black soft plastic with nice, but hard to see graphics. The Thunderguns were unique in that they were cap guns that fired a double roll of caps. In other words two caps went off at once when you pulled the trigger.....more bang...more smoke. A very nice set of guns from Marx. I always thought of Mattel as the big-boys in Cowboy cap guns as I grew up, but this set is exceptional. I'm betting the double caps were abit tricky to find at just any dime store....

Oh wow! Twice the bang at the pull of a trigger! That is absolutely awesome. Just imagine firing that off in the back of the church!

How long have you had that set though? It looks like new old stock.

Wow, even I haven't thought of firing off cap guns in the back of a church. Gotta try that out some day.

Only Hep could come up with shooting cap guns off in the back of a church....no doubt with a full congregation! Ha!

Had the set many years.....never used, so yep, I'm bettin it's old store stock...

Anyone have any pics or info on two 'weapon sets' that tied into "T.H.E. Cat"?

T.H.E. Cat was a 1966-1967 one season wonder on NBC.
I think the two sets were made by Ideal.

These are the armament of choice when doing battle with giant '50s Sci-Fi Bugs From Hell.

First we have the Hamilton's Invaders Laser Pistol which fires four different beams of flesh searing destruction! It also buzzes!!!

For a real bug decimating wallop pull out your trusty Hamilton's Invaders Grenade Pistol! STAND BACK, CITIZEN!!!....BOOOOOOM!!!! >:D

And don't forget to wear your Hamilton Helmet, lest their terrible pincers crush your pitiful noggin like a soggy grape!!!  ;)

ALWAYS MONSTERING...

Nice stuff Horror Hunter! I'm not familiar with the Hamilton's Signal Lazer pistol. I'm wondering what the box would look like....never seen one.

I've never seen a box for it either, Bud. I didn't even know this gun existed until I stumbled across it on eBay a few months ago. The seller wasn't even sure it was made by Remco, thinking someone stuck the Hamilton's Invaders sticker on it after it was bought. It clearly says Remco on the gun though. I guess the guy just never saw where it was marked. It must be scarce.
