I have been trying to find teenagers like Steve in from my middle school to high school years that would match my tastes. But I would always failed to find one, but I did find quite very few who likes 80's and 90's era but they're not really into them like I do. I never found anybody who are into pre 80's.

I do have some people who think I'm stuck in 80's or 90's, and I always believed that I'm born in a wrong era once in a while. happily some of my new friends in my college are into 80's and 90's stuff, even some pre 80's as well. One friend is about almost same age as I'm and other actually is ten years older than I.

I hate most of new stuff that came out today, however there are only few stuff that actually I liked, but most of others are just seem crap to me.

Some people told me that I should move forward and start liking more new stuff, irony I choose to move backwards in time and become more interested in many things from 1930's to 1970's such as books, movies, comics, art, pulps, toys, posters and more. That's why I end up as a member on this thread, lol listening to great people with great interests!

I found new horror to be silly and not scary, I like older ones better like lovecraft stuff, and old horror movies that know how to be scary in first place.

Sly...I agree about the new horror movies.  Most have disappointed me on many levels.  With all the stories out there you'd think Hollywood would make an original movie, but no.  What do they do?  Make horrible remakes of classics or remakes of Japanese classics.  Great job Hollywood, you suck again!  Then the few original movies they do make just plainly suck.  It's like they say: Hey lets make a cheap movie, over-market it, sucker people into paying money to watch it, then do it again.

The other day at a wedding, I asked this young girl catering if she ever seen From Dusk Til Dawn.  I asked this because their was a weird vibe at the wedding like everyone was going to turn into vampires, lol.  So any way, she said "no what's that?".  So I explained the movie and she was clueless.  This girl had to of been 17-20 years old.  Then I asked, have you seen any vampire movies?  And her response was........."Yea, I love Twilight!"  I just turned around and walked away with a sad tear in my eye.  Is this what young people now adays consider a vampire movie?  The end times are near my friends.

True, Hollywood are not good as it used to be. As an american, I feel quite embarrassed to admitted that almost all big budget remakes that are from Hollywood in USA sucks big time and even worse, some are big time flops. Hollywood are now more known to us that they just grab anything to cash it in that they think we'll pay to watch like bunch of zombies flocking to theaters. I hate it that there are no new werewolf films from hollywood, yes I'm aware of that wolf-man remake but all I want are original big budget werewolf films that is something really cool and still actually good.

It is most likely that they don't think that werewolf films can make good money, they actually thought that first Pirate of the Caribbean movie was going to be an big time flop (they ALMOST shut it down and call it a day) because pirate movies before it are just bunch of flops and they're complete blown away by unexpected giant box-office returns from Pirate of the Caribbean movie. It was unexpected successful movie, (same thing with 1980's Fright Night) and they left it for dead on opening! Now they start treating it as holy grail and start making sequels to it, second and third are not very serious movies like first are.  First movie was meant to be stand alone masterpiece movie and last three movies are more focused on things that everybody like and sadly plots are just messed up! Again, last three PoC movies are more like popcorn movies that doesn't need to be taken seriously, if taken seriously than it's meh because it couldn't live up to first PoC's stranded.

I could go on and talk more on why last three PoC are not great movies. 4th PoC movie actually have plot holes that still haunt me to this day! Last three PoC are sad proof on hollywood are doing right now, cashing in what people like...

Twilight is one of great examples that shows dark side of hollywood! Twilight sucks, I actually watched it once and I labeled it as a chick  kitsch film. My sister was the one that made my family watch it, I found it quite more of an kitsch movie that I'm not willing to watch again for years and would rather not talk about it! It also sucks that my oldest friend that is still my friend actually love it, but thankfully he's more into original halloween movie right now and forgot twilight.

I hadn't watch "From Dusk Til Dawn" yet and I'm planning on watching it someday because I bought dvd version from yard sale about one month ago, is it good? I really hadn't watch vampire movies that much because they're hard to find and I wasn't really interested watching them in first place. I'm more of a werewolf guy, but I did bought two or so vampire movies that are 1931's Dracula and 1993's Dracula. For some reason that pre 1990 old horror movies are actually real pain in the back to find in wild such as flea market and yard sales! I FINALLY found Rosemary's Baby for 50 cents, I know it's a not vampire movie LOL! I almost got Lost Boys but I'm only interested in few vampire movies that I want to watch and Lost Boys are not one of them.

Yeah it's sad that they don't know true meaning of horror, shame.

LOL, sorry Sly, been kinda slacking on here.

Anyway, speaking of Twilight.  My girl show me a picture of Bela Lugosi as Dracula and the caption had something to do with vampires sparkling.  So I asked her what it was and she told me it had to do with the vampires in Twilight sparkling when they were in sunlight.  I immediatley became irate as she started laughing.  I kept telling her that she's lying and began using some very derogative terms toward homosexuals to decribe the scene.  Then she showed me a youtube clip of it and I about lost it.  Now I truely believe the male character is being attacked by this metrosexual  trend.  This male vampire, instead of melting, began to (deep breath).......sparkle.

Maybe I'm old school, but men should act like men and women like women.  I would hate to see a female with a wad of chew in her mouth and tobacco stains on her shirt, sit in a chair and scratch her beer gut as she pounds a bottle of whickey.  AT NO TIME SHOULD A MALE SPARKLE!!!!
ok
deeeeeep breath.....blood pressure going up
sorry about the rant.....I'm just so fed up, and these are just my humble opinions.  maybe i'm wrong.

LOL! I was gonna add or from a girl touching you but it took away from the laugh factor. But ya those sparkles get every where. I think last year maybe new years I was hanging with a young lady and really wasn't paying attention to her sparkles well later one that night after spending much time with her dancing and what not I went to talk to a buddy in a more lite are of the club and the first words out of his mouth were " Dude why are you sparkling?" It actually took me a minute but then it clicked she had sparkles on. Good times. ;D

When I watch a vampire sparkle in sunlight for very first time during first and only viewing of Twilight, I laugh hard like crazy! It was hilarious in a bad way to me! some of my classmates hate me because I laugh whatever they said "Twilight", They never give me a chance to explain why I found it so funny. I also call it a cheesy drama movie which it makes them even more angrier. I was never into vampires in first place, and Twilight was the start of my hatred for vampires however reading intro back of the Bram Stroker's Dracula book explaining that it's more about immortal stuff and how they paid price of being as one have finally put an end to my hatred for vampire now. Which I finally now respect older versions of vampires such as Dracula because I found them to be so interesting now.

I hope I will have enough time to Bram Stroker's Dracula since it's been sitting on my shelf for a year now.

Yeah that's true, but I won't mind having women that are acting like bunch of tomboys. My female friend is a tomboy and she loves video games, lol! I found girly men to be weird as heck, yuck. My high school did have a male that is dress up in girl's clothes, it was stupid sight, just yuck. Sadly it's their choice, not mine. There is other one in my art college, I hate seeing them that way!

In my high school years, no one give a damn about comic books! They would rather talk about Manga instead which it makes me want to kill them for that! To make matters worse, high school library has only small number of non-super heroes graphic novels and rest of others are super heroes! I was NEVER into super heroes in first place! They have more manga stuff that which it upset me!

I dislikes super heroes... and dislikes manga too...

I just turned 20, so yeah, definitely a young gun here. The reason I got into it is because my dad watched a lot of older movies so that is what I grew up with. Naturally when I became interested in horror, I watched more of the classics than anything else. Now, I'll watch anything, but I love classic Universal the most of any horror. I'm a Media Studies & Theatre double major and professional actor, so I'm constantly studying all types of film.

Speaking of UMA'ers under 40.  Last week at Monster Bash, the crowd seemed to hold the majority of over 40 years of age.  There were some younger monster-goers and some really young monster-goers, but only a handful.  It got me thinking of where this genre will be in 20, 30, or more years.  I think the generation of classic movie lovers is being replaced by reality tv and CGI effects.  I mean, do kids even watch classic movies anymore or could they even enjoy them?  They are so brainwashed by special effects and remakes that I don't think they could appeciate the story of a good movie.  Everyone now is so fast paced, and needs things done fast, and easy, and with the most expensive technology that is new for the week.  Do you really think the average 16 year old could appeciate a classic Universal Monster movie, or silent movie?  Do you think that their brains will allow them to slow down and enjoy a story instead of special effects?

I think with the way most people are programed now it would be hard for them to enjoy a classic or something that is simple and slow instead of complicated and fast.  In 20-30 years I think this genre of classic movie lovers will really take a hit.  You'll still have your hardcore fans but the numbers will be small.  I think it's up to us, not just the younger movie lovers, but the older movie lovers to pass on this torch.  Hopefully we can ignite the flame inside these people and open up a whole new world for them.

Absolutely.  That is the only way these movies and characters will continue.

The truly frightening thing is the number of kids who aren't even really aware of Freddy Krueger, Jason Voorhees, and Michael Myers.  Those characters have replaced the Universal Monsters in the Halloween aisles, yet they are nearly out of the consciousness of young people.  They are now considered "classic monsters," and their original films "almost unwatchable."   **shudders**

So I am setting out to help the kids who can be saved.   :)
