Yvette Vickers, an early Playboy playmate whose credits as a B-movie actress included such cult films as "Attack of the 50-Foot Woman" and "Attack of the Giant Leeches," was found dead last week at her Benedict Canyon home. Her body appears to have gone undiscovered for months, police said.

Vickers, 82, had not been seen for a long time. A neighbor discovered her body in an upstairs room of her Westwanda Drive home on April 27. Its mummified state suggests she could have been dead for close to a year, police said.

RIP, this is very sad.  Some of us met her at Monster Bash in 2006.  Not sure if she made any other con appearances.  Here are some photos from that Monster Bash:

I think that was Forry's last Bash.  We sat with her the last night, when they were throwing out prizes and having the closing ceremony.  She was a nice lady.

So sad..........to be so alone in the world that no one knows you've died for months on end. RIP now Vickie.

Oh, what a shame.  It's sad to hear of her passing, but even sadder to hear about the lonely way she spent her last days. I'm glad you shared your memories and your pictures of this beautiful lady, Toy Ranch, she deserves to be remembered now.

I have very fond memories of Yvette.  Bobby's right--it was the 2006 Bash--and in more than one way, for me it was the end of an era.  It was the last time Forry was able to attend, and he joined us at mealtimes during that weekend.  "We" were my cousin Sara (vpdogjoe) and Harry Woodbury (Harry Hammock) and myself, and another friend, Jill--and the table was always lively--Forry and me singing old Jolson songs, the ladies looking after Forry's every mealtime need--we were always laughing and carrying on--and at lunchtime on that first day, Joe Moe brought Yvette to our table, saying, "Yvette, you need to sit HERE--this is the FUN table!"  And so Yvette joined us for most meals the rest of the weekend.  And she was a hoot.  A very sweet lady, and full of fun.  She talked a lot about her love of music, and of her parents who'd been talented performers (jazz, singing).  Yvette had put out a cd tribute to them, in fact.  I have it somewhere here.  Well, anyhow, she was having eye problems--I remember that--and was forever dropping her money, her dining room bill, her magnifying glass--you name it--and we spent part of every breakfast and dinner searching for whatever it was that Yvette had dropped.  It became part of the fun, in a way.  Now, looking back on it, it's just bittersweet.  She was intending to get cataract surgery, but was worried about doing it.  I wonder if she ever had it done?  I wrote to her occasionally after that con, but she was a private person and, though she was always friendly, she didn't encourage any intimate friendship.  And perhaps that was the story of her later years, and perhaps that's why she ended in this way.

One of the songs Forry and I sang--to Yvette--was an oldie called Coquette: "Though others I've met/May call you coquette/I'll always call you Sweetheart"--and Forry would substitute "Yvette" for "coquette", which made her laugh.  I have a photo of us all sitting at a dining room table that year, and everyone looks so happy.  I hope you had many more happy times, Yvette.  Rest in peace, sweetheart.

Angie and I talked to her in the "Old Dark Clubhouse" at Monster Bash as she wanted to see it. It was a short talk but I remember her being very nice! I think Angie made a DVD of our talk(along with a Zacherle interview) and distributed it to friends of the Old Dark Clubhouse premiums exchange.

Very sad, this news. R.I.P. , Yvette

Yvette Vickers played the feisty girlfriend of the 50 Ft. Woman's husband.

If you have the official 1989 Warner Brothers DVD of "Attack of the 50 Ft. Woman", play the commentary.  She discusses the movie and her career with Tom Weaver.

She is so alive and sharp-witted in that commentary.  I'm sure that is the way she would want to be remembered.
