I need The Frog! Don't remember ever seeing that one! Worth .98ยข  no matter what it looks like :)

I had the Skeleton Pirates which I think came out a few years later.

Recently picked up the Blackbeard reissue; would love to see the Captain Kidd model brought back as well.

OK, Hepcat egged me on, so I'm posting this on one more thread.
I just found this a few days ago when going through my dear departed Mom's cache of old photographs...that's me being a Happy Monster Kid in 1964.  :)

The photo actually makes more sense in this thread than in the others in which you've posted it.

That was a great score for you at the time though. At a price point of just under five dollars, the Gigantic Frankenstein was the ultimate kit in 1964. Since not many sold at that price, it's also the ultimate monster model kit for collectors today.

My Dad was a watchmaker and a very creative man, but his profession was not extremely lucrative. Things were always a bit tight financially. That makes it even more touching to me now, knowing all the sacrifices he made. And plunking down an "Abe" for this; wish I could thank him again now...

We're all here because we're not all there.

The "Way Out Witch" and the "Frog" remind me of those very elusive William Castle greeting cards. I had a few of those back in the day. Anybody know if there is a connection there?

Hepcat

Good eye! Both the Aurora Frog and the Vampire kit below whose picture I found on the net are models of William Castle Creatures:

They're tough kits to find.

Oh, yea. Now I see the little Castle logo there at the bottom, just like on those cards...

Good old William Castle....striking the pose in his director's chair. ;D

I had a few of the cards; not sure if I had the complete set. In a small bit of ballyhoo, they came with a note stating that if you mailed them to a certain address, William Castle would autograph them and send them back. I didn't get it together to do that, and now I don't even have the dang cards. :/

I took a pic of the Aurora reissues my son and I have worked on for the last several years. The monsters wanted to get out in the nice, brisk fall air. We completed the Wolfman just a few weeks ago.

I'm no master modeler, and I don't fill in the cracks, sand, etc., but we have a good time with these. The Creature is up next!

Those look pretty pro to me. I have very fond memories of building some Auroras with my dad. I'm sure your boy will, too.

Those are way cool! 8)

Being a master modeler is great, but doin' it monsterkid style is the heart and soul of what we love.  :)
