If you live here, you already know of the heat we have been going through every day.  Now we have some big potential weather news for California.

I didn't know you had hurrycanes in Ca. The news always has them in the Atlantic, crawling up the East coast.

We've had tiny little twisters (almost comically small) but never a real "storm" like this.  We do get periods of unusual humidity when Mexico has a big storm off its coast.  Makes us feel like a deep south state for a few days.  If it does hit us, it will be like when Los Angeles had a huge snowstorm back in 1942 or so - freaky.

Maybe it will fizzle out and nothing will come of it.

I often watch shows about extreme weather events. 'Never
imagined we might have to live through one. I'll keep an
eye out for "Karina", hoping she doesn't careen our way!

Hope it doesn't make landfall at the same time we finally get that "Big One" earthquake they have been threatening us with since I was a kid.  (If I make it, I'll turn 80 mid-October.)

The hurricane weakened into a tropical storm and turned west, away from California.  We did get a "king tide" where unusually elevated waves combined with an usually high tide to cause flooding for the idiots who have homes right on the beach.

I live 5 miles from the beach.  All we got was a very sweet, very pleasnt, little rain.  It was really welcome after the hot days we have been experiencing from being so close to the storms that Mexico is having.

Doh!

Pretty good rainfall in Los Angeles proper on Sunday. Now it's just hot and humid; we're facing 100 tomorrow.

Ugh!

Looks like we will be getting a repeat of the last storm here in Southern California within a week.

Glad I don't live in a beach shack.
