My latest, "Tribute to the Cool Ghoul". Painted in tribute to and memory of the great Dick Von Hoene. Oddly enough I finished this today, and it's the 8th anniversary of his passing!

Wow! The Cool Ghoul of Cinci looks like he's gonna jump right off the canvas! You do such incredible work, Illoman.  :)  These guys made tv so much fun, back in the day-and you really have captured the feeling of 60s/70s goodness! The Cool Ghoul was one of the many tv movie hosts we were able to watch (sans cable tv), in Michigan when I was a youngster. I'm not sure if our Lansing station broadcasted his show or if it was from our Toledo based channel, but I remember him and Sir Graves Ghastly making Saturdays awesome! I now feel like I need to look around on the internet to see if there are any old film clips of these guys.
It's such a lovely painting, and it brought back some cool memories to boot! Thanks Illoman.

Thanks, UP and Charpie! Since he was from the era of Flower Power and peace signs I wanted something bright and colorful from that era. I'm glad you picked up on that, Charpie!  ;D

And you're right: guys like the Ghoul did make teevee fun back then. His show was a great place to spend Saturday nights.

Mike, that is outstanding!! You have no idea how much I wish I could do that!

Buddy, actually I'm friends with his daughter on Facebook, and she really liked it, which I really appreciated. The first one I did of the Ghoul was intended as a gift for him, but sadly he passed away before I could send it to him. I donated it to a charity auction in his name and have no idea what happened to it. Since I got some of the colors wrong (his hat, his eye makeup, eye color) since I was going on memory I've always wanted to repaint that one. I probably saw 90% of his shows on a black and white teevee back then.

What are your plans for this one Mike?

Honestly not sure... I'd like to hang on to it for a while and then probably sell it. My daughter is getting married this summer. Sigh...

WOW!! Congrats!! How old is she. Do you hate the prospective son-in-law?? You know they're NEVER good enough. ;)

Mike, do you ever advertise your paintings on Craig's List or eBay Classifieds (which narrows down transactions to your specific locality)? Or eBay proper??

Thanks, Scatter. I really like my future son in law, and think he's the right one for my daughter! I've been blessed that way!!

Yes, I've sold on ebay but never really get what I'd like to have, so usually only use it in desperation.

Well, you need some kind of a platform to advertise your art. Period. Ever thought of setting up at a horror con?? I wonder how expensive that would be?

It's very cost-prohibitive for me, when you factor in the expense of travel, the set up fee, hotel, etc. I feel like I'd have to sell a ton just to break even, let alone turn a profit.

Well SOMETHING'S GOTTA BE DONE DAMMIT!! :D
