The things I find tucked inside of books. This is a 20 year old photo copy of a pointalistic ink drawing done with a "oooo" point Rapidograph technical pen on illustration board. Sorry that the resolution is not the sharpest but the scanner didn't like this at 200% so I had to settle for 150%. The photo came from an article in "People" magazine about Michael Crawford(his real last name is Dumbell--I kid you not).
The original is long gone---I had the brass to send it to Michael Crawford when he was on Broadway appearing in "The Phantom of the Opera" and never heard back if he got this drawing or not.
So this is truly a lost work of art.

Although I have done 2-D, it's not my thing. I sculpt and paint kits, prefering to stick with lifesize in the sculpting department. With a lot of my stuff still packedafter moving last month, these pics are the best I can do for now, but more will follow.
1) 1:1 Vincent Price Sculpture produced as a resin kit. Haven't had a chance to paint one yet, but will in the coming weeks.
2) Beast From Hollow Mountain kit that I painted and just happened to have a crappy picture of on the computer.
3) 1:1 Bela that is also produced as a resin kit. This particular one was painted by Saul Alvarez, another amazing artist.

This is what has been keeping me busy for the last 3 weeks and best of all--this is a paying job! Once again, black acrylic watercolor on parchment paper, size 5 x 7 inches. The only white paint used was on a few twigs here and there. Years ago I did this in pointalism pen & ink and it took me months to complete. That drawing belongs to my Onkle Wilfried in Bremen, Germany--he's a master stone mason and also an artist.
The angel sleeping amongst the ivy is from a book of photos about the wonderfully overgrown and neglected Highgate Cemetery in London. The book's title is "Highgate Cemetery:Victorian Valhalla" 1984

Now I sit and wait for photos of a Brough Superior Motorcycle to arrive in the mail from Quebec--my next paying job.

I've been putting the room where I paint in order the last few weeks and every so often I find a lost treasure. This little watercolor was one of the first "Ghastly Greetings" from 2001 and was obviously for Valentine's Day. The text was borrowed from Shakespeare "And I shall wear my heart upon my sleeve for Daws to peck at." from "Othello" Not sure what sort of paper this is but it is on the flimsy side and didn't take the paint very well. The very first "Ghastly Greetings" depicted Fritz with the jar of brains and the text was once again supplied by the Bard "Oh there has been much tossing about of brains." from "Hamlet"

First off let me say I am truly impressed at the talent found in this thread.  I've always loved Frank's caricatures, they capture so much of not only the monsters but the people behind them.  Meek, your work is right up there with any of the monster masters.  I applaud you all!  How many of you draw from memory?  Or can take a subject and put them in a completely different pose?  I'm more of a copy machine, I can take pretty much any picture and copy it but I'm not really good at using the old imagination when it comes to doing real life subjects.

Threw this together today after being inspired by the thread-Man it's been along time since I've drawn, years & years.  Interestingly enough I've drawn all sorts of monsters but never tried my hand at the classics so I decided to start with Lon and his iconic Vampire.  Still got some cleaning up to do on it but here it is.

Simple pencil & ink,-that's all I really do, 'cept maybe markers and crayons once in awhile.  Measures around 5"x7" on a good old piece of 8.5x11" copy paper.  I'll have to dig out my art book & see about posting some other monster related stuff, more new genre and my own creations really.  I know I've got a Dracula being spiked from Monster Squad somewhere.

Thank you for your compliment about my work. I fear that I also fall in to the "photo copier" category---only that I do what a machine can't and that's give the painting a soul.
I think you've done quite well with your Man in the Beaver Hat if you haven't drawn in a while---you never know when inspiration will strike and is futile to resist when your Muse calls.
Might I make a suggestion? Try looking at what you've drawn in a mirror--it helps to check for balance and distortion; turning your work upside down will also help in spotting things that need a tweak or two.

Suggestions always welcome, I was probably told the same thing by my art teachers but I'm to damned stubborn to change my ways.  I suppose the distortion could be considered my trademark....or is that laziness!??  Here are some of the drawings I dug out, like I said they're all modern horror.
I tuned the brightness & contrast on them since the scanner really showed off where my pen/marker didn't apply an even color.  I failed to notice if there were any dates on them but they would all be from my teenage years in the late 80's.

These are all on 8.5x11" paper.  The Hellraiser collage was made up of different images that I drew at different times then cut out & glued onto a single sheet.

Now the cat's out of the bag.....You might remember me asking for Rondo Hatton stills,
I needed as reference for a project.

Very special thanks to Meek and Egorchamber for helping me out with picts ( watch your mailmen soon ;-) )

Zounds! Rainer, that came out exceedingly dramatic---remarkable considering the somewhat fuzzy photo scans I sent you---obviously Igor's were far better. I hope Amok Time was equally impressed by your 11th hour illustration. Like I always say, sometimes desperation is the best inspiration. In size, another one of your miniatures or did Amok specify the size needed for reproduction?

As my Opa would've said "PRIMA!"

Nightmares in plastic

Thank you very much Meek, your picts were especially
helpful to fill some "blanks"....

This time its a bit larger than usual - 46 cm X 35 cm (hey metric system...).
Painting was easier than expected in that size.

Rainer, *excellent* painting!! Is it oils or acrylics?

Really nice job. Thanks for posting it!

Okay, I haven't contributed anything to this thread since I usually go artistically dormant through the winter. I'm out of hibernation, and just finished this portrait of our own, Doctor Shocker:

I hope I've done Dan justice!!
