Cool!
"They come from the bowels of hell; a transformed race of walking dead. Zombies, guided by a master plan for complete domination of the Earth."

Don't get to spend as much time as i'd like here these days, as i'm caring for my 94 year old mom w/dementia here in my home 24/7. Was just admiring all the beautiful artwork i've been missing and suddenly the late Mark Stamper popped into my head and i remembered a really cool Shock Monster poster i bought from him shortly before he passed...went looking and actually found it [no easy task around here!] in the tube it was sent in. My ultimate favorite piece by him that i own is one of his magnificent ''Limb Wielder'' Bigfoot sculptures, but being a big Topstone fan, Shocky always holds a special place in my heart, as does Mark...such a warm, wonderful, amazingly talented & gentle giant...gone but never forgotten. Happy to share this with everyone...

Magnificent Shock Monster! Mark was the corner stone of this site. For those that joined after he passed, they really missed out on a larger than life personality who really made this site come to life. When I first joined, he was so friendly and posted in my threads. He is certainly missed around here.

Therin of Andor

Feathered animal by Ian McLean, on Flickr

Watercolour painting of an extinct, feathered Velociraptor, based on my own photograph of a model featured in the "Tyrannosaurs" exhibit of 2013 at the Australian Museum, Sydney. Highlights and shading in white pigment Signo, watercolour pencils and black finepoint Sharpie. In 2010, scientists discovered proof that many dinosaurs had feathers and, through a study of fossilised melanosomes (pigment-bearing organelles), they were able to ascertain some of the feather colours of Chinese dinosaurs!

Garden by Ian McLean, on Flickr

"There are gargoyles in my garden." Watercolour on watercolour paper, with black ballpoint ink and yellow, red and blue coloured pencils. Based on my own photographs.

Baking by Ian McLean, on Flickr

Watercolour and Sharpie drawing on watercolour paper of Sesame Street's Cookie Monster baking his favourite food.

Happy place by Ian McLean, on Flickr

"Mr Minotaur's a-mazing happy place." Drawing of Mr Minotaur in his labyrinth in finepoint black Sharpie. Shading in watercolour on watercolour paper, and details collaged onto cream "marbletone" card.

The past by Ian McLean, on Flickr

"Comic book mail-order heaven." Torn Quill "marbletone" paper, with details in black finepoint Sharpie, watercolours and white opaque Signo. Some text word processed in Pages.
Thiptho lapth,

Regards, Ian.

Done with mostly Micron BRUSH & Microns and based on a full-pager from SWAMP THING #1 by the late Bernie Wrightson. The first sketch cover I ever sat down and did at home. Once I became a comic book inker I didn't practice pencilling much, as I knew it was already a struggle to pencil ink-worthy stuff. I WISH I could whip out commissions. Drawn on a blank cover variant of SWAMP THING #14.
