Wicked cool! Love the reverse angle and the play of colors in this.

Haha! Charpie...thanks, I am lucky to have a good woman who looks after me even though I drive her nuts! You're right about all the talent of the UMA being an inspiration, seeing all the diverse artwork and enthusiasm from its members has given me that nudge to get creating myself!

After hearing the sad news of the great Ray Harryhausen's passing yesterday I decided to pull our my collection of Harryhausen DVDs and started running them in the studio while I worked. I've always had a soft spot for Beast From 20,000 Fathoms... it was one of the first of his films I ever saw as a kid and has always been one of my all time favorites. As I was watching it I started thinking of a sketch I did a little while back for a commission project that didn't get used and I decided to pull it out and finish it up as a personal piece.

That is a wonderful and unique piece!! The Beast was one of the early films that I saw too, and it's one that still holds up today and I watch it often -- some of Ray's very best work and also one of the early atomic monster films that actually had exceptional acting!! I loved the beginning in the Arctic (reminded me of The Thing From Another World -- stay out of the snow!), and David Buttolph's memorable score is great -- an excellent recording of the score is available from Monstrous Movie Music.

UP!!!!!!!!!!!!  That is spectacular! I'm glad I waited until I swallowed my ice water, before I scrolled down to see your insanely cool logo! I would have gasped it right down the old throat tube!  You are super insanely talented, and so full of imagination & delight! You make the UMA a place we all want to visit daily so we can see if you've posted any new monster art or monster stories or monster words, or NEW monsters!  Ahhh!!  It's only a matter of time before you write some monster songs! Maybe the Monster Mash for the new generation of monster kids! You never know.........
