Hey, CR - Thanks, man!  That was VERY helpful!  I kinda like using them, but I'll definitely have to check into those blending sticks - all my fingers look like thumbs!  I agree that they're very forgiving - I just kept covering up stuff if it didn't look right, :D!  Thanks again!

Back in college we used to use hairspray on our pastel work-it was cheap and effective. Of course this was over 20 years ago so i don't know if art sealers were even around then!
Anyhoo, here are my first sketches of the new year. I am also going to to finally be starting on a local independent horror western comic called The Obsidian Colt this week, so I am excited to finally become a paid artist!LOL!

Hail To the King! Godzilla 1973

The evil two headed rat/bird pollution monster from episodes 9 and 10 of Spectreman(1971)

Cool stuff RedKing! I love the Godzilla sketches! The Jason Vs. Frankenstein is a great idea too! I would totally read that comic!!! I just finished up a piece that, although not being a classic monster, fits in with all the Mystery Science Theater fans on the boards!

I know I said I was going to do the Metropolis print like the other 2 pieces next, but I was getting burned out on working with only 6 colors! I needed to do something vibrant and colorful to break it up a bit, and you don't get much more colorful than MST3K! But now that this is done, back to the epic that is Metropolis...

First, thanks for the comments on Frankie, they're greatly appreciated!

Very cool renderings of two of my favorite silents, great work!

After finishing aforementioned Frankie I thought it was time to refine my skills on crosshatching and a bit finer rendering in b/w.
This is one of the results:

Just fine liner, black Copic marker, brush & white out on plain, heavy paper.
