Meek - thanks for the background info - it makes the art all the more appreciated.
Terry - [H. Munster]Darn! Darn! Darn! Darn![/H. Munster] sorry to hear it, and congrats on the award.
Frank - obviously you're having too much fun!

I'm also sorry that you can't make it to Wonderfest, Terry. I'm hoping for a sort-of grand caucus of the classic monster artists, that we could all meet up and have a cocktail and draw on bev-naps. Do you think you might be able to attend the Classic Monster Con in October?

Here is the Shakespeare chair varnished and assembled. The color is not quite right but then it is grey and murky out. I'll also post a view of the seat inscribed with Elizabethan styled profanity. "Goats and Monkeys!" is the only real Shakespearean cussin' and that comes from "Othello".

And here is the seat of the chair--I went alphabetically in listing these but am rather fond of "Fawning headge-born maggot pie!"  "Droning fly-bitten harpy!" refers to my Stepmother and "Goats and Monkeys!" I growl frequently while at work---this is a safe sort of swearing.

Goats and Monkeys, indeed! The perfect spot to sit and, perchance to dream...on a midsummer's night, natch!
A true labor of love.

This month's Classic Horror Art Challenge at the CHFB is our beloved CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON. Here's my entry...Ricou Browning from THE CREATURE WALKS AMONG US...

I've been exchanging computer generated images with Rick Baker recently. He's created some incredible digital versions of the Karloff Frankenstein monster and Lugosi's Dracula. Here is a Kharis I created a few years back. I thought you folks might enjoy it...

ChrisW

Frank - beautiful rendering of the creech. What software did you do Kharis in? Is the figure 2D or 3D? And the effect of the bas relief in the Background works well.
I use Lightwave 3D program (+some plugins) at work for the conceptual stuff. I/ve seen some of Rick Bakers wortk on the Computer Graphic Society's pages - incredible stuff. He taught himself Z-Brush - and blows everyone out of the water...

MonsterArt

Thanks Chris. The Kharis figure is 3D. Rick and I are both creating these characters in Poser, which has become a really terrific program for folks teaching themselves 3D skills.

I've been searching for another version of the Creature that I did for my Brother for his birthday; the painting, 4x6 is of the Creature starting to climb over the side of the Rita onto the deck, but I can't find the scan or a copy of the painting anywhere that I've looked. Humph!
I did find Murder lurking by a lamp post, so he'll have to do for the time being until I can find what the deuce I've done with the Creature(I could ask my Brother to make a copy of the painting and send it to me but he's not one to respond to any request quickly).
Murder has wax stains on his left coat sleeve and a ring on his right index finger and he ties his cap on in an innnnteresting manner, but most of all I love his "catfish" whiskers. I know Lugosi had no love for the feline race but for me he reminds me of a very large cat--he's so feline in his gestures.

Er, I meant "cape" not cap; the ties for the cape go under Murder's armpits.

Frank, did you paint the texture map for the Kharis figure?
Another nice job Meek - the hands are especially well done!

QuoteFrank, did you paint the texture map for the Kharis figure?

I did, Chris. Used a texture map and painted it in photoshop. I wish I had my Wacom tablet back then, I could have done a much better job of matching seams and so forth.

And thanks for the nice words about the Creature sketch, folks!
