Does anyone have access to Worthpoint though? A whole bunch of great Jack Davis Tatoos are on Worthpoint but they don't show up unless a fellow has formal access.

Hey Gang,

I'm a HUGE Jack Davis fan. Mostly because I'm an EC fan addict!!

I picked up this awesome piece of horror history off of eBay and it just came today. A Jointed Jack Davis Frankenstein! A reprint of the original 60s poster. Same size but it's jointed!

Here's my Copy of Creepy 1:

Here's my 4 Original Tales From the Crypt Jack Davis covers:

My very 1st EC reprint. Which all my obsession with EC and the artists started.

Saw this sweet little Jack Davis poster on the Interwebnet:

(Click on picture for larger image.)

At 11X14, the reproduction is the size of a lobby card.  Might be nice to use use the auction image for a coloring contest, here at the UMA, or at your next juvenile (aren't they all?) Halloween party - just replace Carla's signature with something Halloweeny.  Or, remove Carla's signature and let the kids provide their own images or holiday messages.

I think someone with a monster-themed bar could replace Carla's signature with a small print menu and use these as placemats.

Anyone else think of some semi-practical use for these?

For those interested, there are a few for sale in a currently active Buy-It-Now eBay listing:

We had a Jack Davis original at work.  A pair of boxers from MAD.  I wish I could have afforded it.

Hey so I only just realized this today but I thought I'd point it out.

Somebody mislabeled Ygor as "Hunchback of Notre Dame". At first I thought it was just an original design of Quasimodo but then I noticed the character appears on the front and back of the record box. On the front he has a noose around his neck, referencing how Ygor was hanged. And on the back he's playing the horn he used to control the monster. I wonder who was in charge of labelling the cards that screwed that up?

Kind of hard to see him but he's to the right of The Mummy.

To the left of Frankenstein's monster.

These weren't the only times Jack Davis drew Ygor, either.

Here is something new! I never saw it before but someone here might be able to place it origin. It was a gift form a friend. It hung over her desk when she worked at some company and when they were redoing the office the told her she could have it. After seeing my home she figured it would belong better there with the other Jack Davis art.

And on the subject of this, I'm pretty sure that this would've been done years later, as a tribute to the movie. Note how it says "reunion".

We'll this picture looks to be promotional art for "Mad Monster Party?"(1967)  Many of the characters look like they did in the film, others (like Mr. Hyde) look somewhat different.  Might have something to do with transforming 2D art into 3D models.
And on the subject of that: well, here's the original concept art for Mr. Hyde.

Certainly more like the puppet than what we see above. I think it was just Jack changing it up a little.

Yeah, the Severin sig was a bit of a giveaway.
There is no signature of Jack Severin on them. Here you can see Jack Davis' signature with them, though. ;D

Monster Bob, jimm, and myself, were referring to this illustration on page 7 of this thread.

It's John Severin from Monster Party!, not Mad Monster Party.

Do you spend all of your time trying catch someone in an error? Very petty and tedious...and also wrong.

I wouldn't have noticed it if it hadn't been that several other people also got confused by this. I couldn't tell what you were even referring to. This makes much more sense. Thanks for clarifying.

And yes, I love to spend my time catching people in error.

You quoted my post and claimed that I was referring to a Jack Davis illustration. You were entirely clueless about what I meant because you didn't take the time to actually read the previous posts to know what was going on. You jumped the gun because you gleefully thought you could make someone else look bad. You caught someone in error all right- yourself. Thanks to your pettiness you've successfully shined a spotlight on your own ineptitude. Good job.

Oh, and his name is John Severin. He went by John. So, you were wrong again.

You should put more effort into trying to help people and build them up instead of constantly trying to run someone down and wallow in that swamp of negativity. I hate this mudslinging, but you need a wake-up call. We've suffered through your hateful posts on here for months, and I'm giving you my opinion of your posts and you. People like you are the main reason I don't post here regularly anymore.
