Trap-Door Maker

I'm now officially drinking the Kool-Aid known as the sculpting work of Adam Dougherty. Just received my pre-painted Creature statue, and it's hands-down my favorite sculpt to date. Huge kit, with a fantastic paint job. In my opinion, of equal quality with Sideshow's monster statues. Great price, too (under $100)! Pics on the Model Mansion site don't do it justice.
That is all.

You tell it like it is buddy. Iam sipping sundrop and cheerwine on this one. I also got the pre paint and its hands down fantastic. sculpt and paint . As far as being of equal quality with Sideshow's  i would say its much better because it cost so much less .  These day one has to keep a very close eye on the wallet!!  James at kit kong is a great guy with top notch customer service and pricing. I for one am glad he is on the net we need more like him less greed and more bang for the buck! 8)

I bought the unpainted version which I am in the process of painting, and yes, the kit is awesome. How about posting some pics of the prepaint. I've only seen the pictures from Kit Kongs site. I'll post pics of mine when it's finished.

Oh yeah, thanks Monahan, I forgot about that thread. I did see the creach there. I guess it's old age and memory loss.  :(

yea the prepaint looks really cool, i didnt care for the frankenstein paint.. creach was decent paint, but i really enjoy that part of the model builing! im looking forward to seeing your all finished up, did you go B&W ???  im starting my mcvey franky this week.. nervous since i have never done vinyl. i really dont want to screw it up, he wasnt cheap haha

I feel that this pre-painted piece is more or less the perfect Creature representation. Love the sculpt and love the paint job. My only complaint is that one eye is painted much, much brighter than the other one (see pix below). This seems strange to me since whomever painted this piece is obviously talented and stickler for details, yet something as important as the eyes slipped through the cracks. I guess for $100, I can't complain, though. But, this fella was just SO darn close to perfection.
That eye will forever haunt me (like in Poe's "The Tell Tale Heart").

wow that is a big difference,,, dont cut him into lil pieces and hide him under the floor boards!

Can you not simply repaint the eyes to your sastisfaction?  The size and shape of them should make this a easy fix.

Trap-Door Maker

I was thinking about repainting the eyes, but based on the way I work, this would involve some experimentation, which I don't want to risk on a piece this awesome! No big deal on an Aurora reissue or other inexpensive kit (which I enjoy doing a bunch of trial & error/experimentation on when I paint them), but this Creature gem has "I should have just left it alone!" written all over it:)
Again, this pre-painted piece is absolutely awesome! And James at Kit Kong is a fantastic guy to do business with.
