QuoteI went out and bought one at a retro clothing place on Queen Street called Black Market about fifteen years ago. I like to wear it every so often.

Hep, if it'll get you out of the piano-keyboard T-shirt, if only for a day, please put it on!  Ha! You had to know that was comin'!  Scatter made me do it.......Love, Buddy

We went to Niagara Falls in the '70's and then went to the Movieland Wax Museum in Canada. They had the big 12 and a half foot tall King Kong that
was made by the Don Post Studios there. They must've not allowed photo's inside or we ran out of film 'cuz I don't have a photo of the Kong itself. But here we are in front with the Kong sign behind us. I still have the pamphlet with the Kong image on it.

CreepysFan

Monolith, that is so cool, wish I could have seen the King Kong exibit.  If you can find the pamplet, you should post a picture of Kong.

P.S. - Tell your little Sister to get off my car's bumper.

Here's  a scan of the pamphlet, it doesn't have a photo, just this cool art work.

Click on link for photo's of the actual Kong. Great pics of the making of the Don Post King Kong!

Scary Terry

I posted these on my blog a while back -- and they seem to fit the thread -- so here's me back in 1960 something at the touring display of the Sinclair World's Fair dinosaurs.  My dad drove me to Des Moines from our home in Muscatine, Iowa to see them.

And in the "moms making special cakes" department -- here's me with the Snoopy cake my mom made one year.

And the cake from my third birthday in 1961 -- looks like some snowmen (?) candle holders.  This was January in Iowa -- so we must've taken this pic quick and run back inside! Mom will be 91 (!) in August.

If you look close at the first birthday pic, you'll see the eye of one of my friends peaking out of the long windowpane that flanked our front door.  I never noticed this until I scanned and enlarged the pic recently!  Early "photobomb!"

Monolith- You lucky duck! I would have loved to see that Kong! Your family looks pretty cool :)  I can't get over how many good pictures you have.
Scary Terry- That dino exhibit looked like a big quality production! Wow! They didn't come to a town near me! It looks like a ton of people were there. This is an event I would have begged my parents to take me to- dinosaurs! That was all I ever thought about for a 3 year period in my life.  I wonder where these dinos are now.... Did they have a parade? I wonder if they had souveniers. I know, I know.....it was a few years ago. Your birthday cakes are delicious looking and pretty big!  The round cake makes my mouth water   :)  I'm assuming they were homemade and oh so fluffy- yummmmmmmm

Scary Terry

Charp -- you can see me holding a souvenir of the dino exhibit in my hands.  they had a "Mold-a-rama" machine there that made toy dinos while you watched.  Pump in a couple quarters -- and presto -- red (hot!) plastic stegosaurus!

OK, this would have been the PERFECT ending to a PERFECT day!!!!  Man, I love the smell of those machines while you stand there waiting for your treasure!!   I have a couple of alligators I got from Gatorland and a Kong-like ape from somewhere. These are from the last 5 years or so, not my originals that are long gone.  Those machines were like toy making magic to us back then.   :)

I just noticed- is that lady in the top dino picture, wearing curlers under a hair net?  I was increasing the display size to get all the dino details I could see, and I saw that lady's interesting hair-do.

I am very glad I got to see that King Kong. We look tired in the photo 'cuz it was a long drive from Niagara Falls to King Kong. Does anyone know where the Kong is now?

Scary Terry, Nice dinosaur pics, that last one looks like a dinosaur parade.

Monolith & Scary Terry, love the Kong pics & links & the Dinos photos!

I want that Kong statue.
