Inspired by Big Daddy Roth, Weird-ohs, Odd Rods and my general love of monsters...the Yeti I made for my new truck...

The Yeti was sculpted starting with a cardboard drawing I made.  Then tin foil and tape to build up the body. The face and hands were sculpted using Magicsculp (although I have developed an allergic reaction so strong to the stuff that even with gloves, a respirator and a fan blowing the fumes away from me....I am still effected.  With Magicsculp I fear I am done  :(.) The body was made with Crayola Model Magic.  He is fairly lightweight.  Two suction cups attached with fishing line keep him hanging in the back window. I had two earlier versions but this one was more along the lines of my vision.  When the light is just right he really stands out.  I am very happy with him.

Here's my Hawk Davey model. It is a 60's original, and has the crude-but-cool paint job of Davey's original owner (not me). If I am not mistaken, the re-issue Davey of recent vintage didn't come with decals. If true that is a shame. The original decals,as seen in the photos are really nice!  Buddy

Davey's back! Hope you can see the "DAVEY" decal on his butt.......Buddy

Cool! The paint jobs on these kits are supposed to be crude - like a skilled twelve year old would have done in the mid sixties!

Paint job is better than my photography.........Buddy

Yeah, i built one of the Testors re-issues of this model and can confirm there were NO such decals included with the kit.

bigbud

I wonder why they would go so half-way by not including a simple decal sheet? Anything to mimimize expense of production and optimize profit. I've recently strolled the isle of model kits at the local Hobby Lobby.....most of those military model kits are from old molds......but the prices! Outrageous for kids or adults!   Buddy
