I'm surprised nobody beat me to this. Last Wed. we lost Mr. James Wall, at age 92. Mr. Wall was a pioneering vaudevillian actor, but he's best known to most of us as Mr. Baxter, from Captain Kangaroo. James Wall's Mr. Baxter was the first African American character to be featured on the show.

For my money, I can't think of a children's show that I enjoyed more than Captain Kangaroo. Thank you for the memories, Mr. Wall. RIP.

Captain Kangaroo was surely a great children's show, Lundy.  According to IMDb:  James Wall was also a stage manager for CBS for almost 50 years and received the Directors Guild of America's Franklin J. Schaffner Achievement Award in 1994.

I join you in wishing Mr. Wall a peaceful rest.  Job well done, sir.
