My wife just forwarded this email to me...and I thought it would be cool to see what kind of pumpkins/Jack O'Lanterns people at the UMA carve.
Ghoulishly grand carved pumpkins

Artist Ray Villafane began carving pumpkins on a lark for his art students in a small rural school district in Michigan . The hobby changed his life as he gained a viral following online and unlocked his genuine love of sculpting. Here are images of pumpkin carvings Villafane created over the past five years.

This is craziness!!  How does one do this? I downloaded a template for a bat shape, taped it to the pumpkin, poked the outline with the poking tool (one broke and I had to use a back-up), carved it while my grandson breathed down my neck watching me too closely, and it took me an hour and 15 mins.!  And it looked like a 5 year old carved it!  haha! I really admire this pumpkin artist, and wonder how long it takes to carve a face like that one with the tongue?  The zipper one is also incredible!  Thanks for showing these, OG!

He was on The Food Network show when he carved that Medusa, in competition with other pumpkin carvers (who knew there were so many?)

Dr. Madd

I wish I had that skill. I've always found Pumpkin to be hard to do much with it. Too slippery a medium

Long live the UMA!

Still hoping that you folks will post some pictures of your Pumpkin handiwork. Little man and I will be carving his tonight. (please don't get me started on this!)

I'm going to resist venting on this. The wife says "He's 2, he doesn't understand that the time has passed, it's the event of it that matters"

Ok, no I'm not. She made a big deal about me not going to the patch with on Thursday, post procedure, so we were then not able to go again until yesterday, then my obsession with completing the Haunt decor took over.

Well, it would have been nice to have had his pumpkin out for Halloween, but some things can't be helped. Doctor's orders and all that.

Here's two from 2006, they don't compare to the other pumpkins displayed here, but they're all mine.
You knew the job was dangerous when you took it, Fred.
