Monster Bob

Honestly, I would put a bucket or sharpener on ebay at $9.99 start auction and let 'er go, if I were selling one (but I'd probably keep it!). I have always done well enough- many times better than I expected, doing it that way.

The "Buy-It-Now-For-Retail-And-A-Half" method never seems to work well from what I see, but I have never tried it. It seems to hinder the sale, at least my observation.

Right on! Ebay is supposed to be an auction market.

Couldn't agree more.  Bob, question was put mainly to the others on this post who still think they are too much money.  Starting a rare, or popular item (such as a bucket head-popular, but a few still exist) at a low price generates a bit of excitement.  The "buy-it-now" option is a bit of a let-down usually, unless it's something you are really looking for. Even though I've been blasted for my point of view on pricing with these items, I've lost quite a few times on e-bay with some auctions of monster items where someone was willing to pay a lot more. As I mentioned in an earlier post somewhere else, collecting monsters is a "general" theme,  vintage for some, modern for others, depending on what a person is willing, or can spend. My point of view (as well as yours too,Bob) is that vintage is "our" way of thinking, we're die-hard with this, although it's not to say that if something came along newer that was really neat, we'd probably buy it. But honestly, I'll put the question out there again, if someone thinks that a Frankenstein pencil sharpener or a bucket head is too much money at 400 dollars, if they were selling one, how much would they be willing to sell it for?  I'm pretty sure they would be looking for the same money, or more.

I dislike auctions and strongly prefer the buy it now option. But I am a buyer not a seller, from their point of view an auction seems better as Bob pointed out. I don't like bidding or the time commitment it takes to snipe others last minute, I want the sure thing.

I have been buying vintage Halloween Blow molds like crazy on Evilbay, and many that were long run auctions I passed up and even bought the same item on some buy it nows for slightly more than the auctions on the others started at or in some cases ended at. When I want something I want it to be a sure thing without throwing a ridiculous auction bid at it to be sure

Hi Ravenloft.  Love those Halloween blow-molds also!!!  Good point with you.  Some people really do like  the "buy-it-now" option, rather than going through the time and "anxiety" of bidding, many times, it probably works better.

I wouldn't sell the bucket for any less than $600 (though, I wouldn't pay anywhere near that much to own one).

Thanks Mord.  Good honest answer.

My last blow mold pic of the season.  I just got this, so pardon the not-so-glam photography.

I had one of these and sold it last year at the flea market.   ::)  I know mine was thick, kind of hard and solid, and thought lots of little sisters probably got bumped on the head with that... and got a bump.  A.J. Renzi...?

I'd list it in the eBay auction with a $9.99 starting bid, as Bob said, and expect it to sell for around $400-$500. If I didn't need the money I'd keep it in my collection. There's no doubt the Glenn Strange Candy Bucket is worth that because that's what collectors are willing to pay. I'm just not willing to pay that currently. If I had a better financial situation I would already own one, and wouldn't mind paying the 400 bucks to do so. Just not today.

The last superior example I saw on evilbay sold for just under $800 I think.

Funny, I don't have a lot of blow-mold stuff.

All I have is a pair of these nifty, 8 in. maracas:

Even though I don't have one, I've been a fan of this blow-mold tombstone ever since I saw the way this one was highlighted in an eBay auction:

ADAM

Earth 2 Chris

^I have that tombstone blowmold. Picked it up at an antique/thrift store for $10 I believe. My only complaint its it's made for a small, nightlight bulb, so it doesn't shine quite as bright as my other blowmolds.

A few other Halloween blowmolds I have. The pics are from a few years back, but they are out again this year, in different configurations.

This old ghost I've had since I was a kid. Something brown faded on him years ago. And I got crafty and painted the skull with glow-in-the-dark paint at some point.
