When it comes to vintage stuff, I also prefer unpersonalized, but sometimes you have to take what you can get, especially with a rare, unusual, or obscure one.  One of my favorite autographs is personalized.  It's Basil Rathbone on a program from "An Evening with Basil Rathbone" that he did at Bloomsberg College in Pennsylvania back in 1961.  They must have just said, "Just sign it to us," because it's personalized to "us".  Also, where it lists the names of the authors whose works he'd be working from, they had misspelled "Sir Arthur Connan Doyle" and he circled the 2nd "n" and put a slash mark.  Seems like he probably had a good sense of humor.

Well---in the case of the one I bought---he isnt that obscure and I have several of him already. I just liked the photo and thought I might be able to get the "To___" off the photo. If not--I can always flip it later. Because he aint signing anything anymore. Being deceased and all. :'(

Anyone picked up anything new lately? This is my favorite thread on the board....but its been awfully quiet lately. Everyone hiding in the bomb shelters clutching our food supply, weapons, etc.? Seriously--I live vicariously through the acquisitions of others at times. So---anything new fellow UMA'ers?

I have a Stan Laurel autograph that's personalized as well............but I don't mind in this case since it's addressed to "Gary"!
We're all here because we're not all there.

Here's my Vincent Price autograph from New Haven, CT in 1983. The full story of how I got it is the subject of my "Just My Type" column in issue #2 of Undying Monsters Magazine. Hope you enjoy.

That Usher is fantastic! My name is Richard too....so I guess if I ever buy any autos from a member here---it should be you, lol.

Richard,

You have been very vocal - in a good way - about the look of UM in the past. I thank you for that. So I hope when you get around to reading my column in #2, you'll enjoy my VP autograph story. While I doubt the day will come when I'll sell my collection, I promise you'll have first right of refusal should I decide to let them go.  8)

I have UM #2 right here....havent had a chance to read it yet. Think I will do that now...... ;D

Great article! I laughed! (I hope that was the intended response). My local comic shop says issue #3 of UM will be available this week! Yeah!

Cinemacabre

While I can't say that every word I've ever written was typed out in hopes of getting a laugh, I will admit to doing that about 96.7% of the time. Laughter is always good, especially in times like these. Glad I was able to do that to you. I think you'll like UM #3 too. Dave and the gang do an amazing job every issue. I'm so impressed by them and it's a pleasure to write for UM.

This thread needs to be resurrected from its grave. Here are some recent additions. Even though I (probably) bugged the crud out of Price during my teenage years and early 20's ~getting him to sign things for me for free---you can never have enuff Vincent Price. Seriously though: I had to sell lots of them over the years because of varied financial crisis. So I am getting a few back. Enjoy. Phibes, Dragonwyck, and publicity shot from the House on Haunted Hill-Roger Corman era.

Awesome, Anton!! I'll have to pester you some time for a high res scan of that middle one. That one *begs* to be painted!
