Thanks for the nice words, guys. The monster lights were something I never thought of until someone gave me some as a gift and once I had them, it suddenly seemed so obvious. I love just sitting and chilling in there.  ;D

Your room is very pleasing on the eyes too, it looks comfortable. Did it take long to string the lights?

Not at all. The shelves are just planks of wood so just tacked them up to the edges. Easy as pie. I just gotta get some more C batteries for those cheap blow molded flashlights I got awhile back. I've also got the Frankenstein head from last year and the Dracula lawn ornament, but I think that makes too much light and sort of defeats the purpose. Monster rooms should be dimly lit....like a castle.  ;)

I agree, the darker the better. Well if the lighting wasn't too time consuming, then right on. Looks great. I need to find a way to light my Monster room. But, i'm drawing a blank. I don't want my room to be bright, or overlit. I think too much light can age a collection? Buy the way, castle could be a cool new name for a Monster rooms. You may have stumbled on to something, like collectible castle or Monster Castle. Lol.

Mike, when Christmas rolls around, they sell lights that resemble the runway lighting used to line the aisles in theaters so you don't fall on your arse when returning to your seat for popcorn. Ever notice them?? Long clear plastic tubes with tiny bulbs every couple of inches.

I picked up some in RED.........and they can easily be tacked under shelving, following any curve or bump because the tube can bend any which way, and give a nice, subdued, eerie glow that lightly illuminates. I've seen them in green as well (which would also look great for the eerie purposes in question) and they can be made as long as you like because they simply hook to each other, allowing you to make it as long as needed, and end in a wall plug.

I got mine at WalMart...........I think a box included 3 tubes at 3' each (I'm guessing........don't have the boxes handy). Here is an idea what they look like.......

Lighting is everything.
As much as I enjoy all of the monster room shots from UMA members, many of them are lacking proper ambiance due to the use of flash. Use a tripod or sit your camera on a shelf or something. Flash sucks the life out of most photos, IMHO!

Dave! Good grief, that room is awsome! I had to join up over here just to see it, Haha!  Love those string lights.

And Scatter, those theatre row lights are on the shopping list now.
