It starred Darrin McGavin. Series based on the character Karl Kolchak, a reporter who ends up investigating murder cases with a supernatural spin on them. Began with a Vampire movie called "The Night Stalker" followed by "The Night Strangler". Movies and series were produced by Dan Curtis of Dark Shadows fame. RECOMMENDED

Trevi Collection. Lara Parker (Angelique on Dark Shadows) was amazing. When those mannequins came to life, scared the chit out of me, as a kid. Still kind of creeps me out. Chopper Close Second and Zombie, the third runner up. HHW

It's hard to pick just one favorite, but my three most loved episodes are:

1) HORROR IN THE HEIGHTS: A really original story based on Jewish mythology that features the Rakshasa, a beast that can appear to its victims as someone they trust. It's one scary looking monster! The fantastic climax has Kolchak facing the beast with a crossbow.

2) THE SPANISH MOSS MURDERS: An interesting sci-fi concept has a legendary swamp monster brought to life through a sleep study patient's nightmares. Scary!

3) THE RIPPER: One of the scariest episodes, this one follows closely the structure of the original "Night Stalker" TV pilot, and has a really suspenseful climax as Kolchak is searching the Ripper's house when the killer comes home.

I also really like THE ZOMBIE for the scene mentioned a couple of times above, THE VAMPIRE and THE DEMON IN LACE.

I can't believe "The Werewolf" is getting votes. I understand that we are the Universal Monster Army and we love werewolves and vampires, but that episode was one the worst episodes of the series. It took place on the Love Boat for crying out loud!

The Werewolf episode was still a good one, even if it was on a cruise ship...

I went with The Vampire, but it's a toss up between The Strangler and The Vampire.
Great T.V. show. The movie is my all time favorite of the Kolchak series, especially that it takes place in Las Vegas. Or
was that a pilot episode? When I was a child growing up in Vegas, the movie scared the blood out of me.

I'm pretty sure the movie took place in Vegas...at least I too thought it did.  ;D

Hey, I liked that episode! Listen, McGavin made that series, and his comic touch and vivid portrayal (even in a weaker story) made every episode worth watching.

The Love Boat Theme.........Kolchak style. The Blood Boat.

Blood, spilled on a full moon
Come aboard, we're dissecting you
Blood, from those who've been gored
Let it flow, it floats back to you

The Blood Boat harbors a wolfman on the run
The Blood Boat promises terror for everyone
Your hope's pinned on Kolchak
To stop lycanthrope attacks

And blood...... won't spill anymore
On the open seas....till you get to shore
It's BLOOOOOOOOOD!!
Welcome aboard
It's BLOOOO-OOOOOO-OOOOD!!!
