Man this is one of the toughest polls! Although I went with Night Stalker, it was tough with Salem's lot, Night Strangler, Trilogy of Terror and Don't be Afraid of the Dark also listed.

As I am a huge fan of 1970s TV movies, it was like asking a parent which is their favorite child.  I went with THE NIGHT STALKER because it was great and it lead to a great sequel and my favorite TV series.

Wicked Lester

I think some people only remember the TOT because of the Zuni fetish doll. However there were 2 other entries in that film that were "OK" but nothing really scary or creepy.

Correct.

But, there IS also the Teacher Segment...  ;D

I get ya. Back in the day when Farrah was huge with all my friends my "night time thoughts" went to Karen Black. ;)

Ahhhhhh...........Night Stalker is my all time fave TV horror series too. Just can't be beat!!

I went with Salem's Lot because the movie was slightly better than the Night Stalker/Strangler movies. But frankly, I love every movie listed!

It was a tough choice between Nightstalker and Gargoyles.  I remember the first time I saw each of them--on their first showing--and how all I wanted to do was hunt monsters.

Gargoyles is the only film which I've ever seen Grayson Hall (aka Dr. Julia Hoffman), outside of Dark Shadows.

Grayson did only a few movies, she was primarily a stage and TV actress, but she was Oscar nominated for supporting actress from "Night of the Iguana."  She also appeared in "Night Gallery" on the episode with Agnes Moorehead. RJ Jamison a DS fan I know from the DS cons wrote a very good book on her, well worth reading, "A Hard Act to Follow"
Check out http://graysonhall.net/
Kate Jackson from Dark Shadows also did a few horror TV movies, including 1973's "Satans School for Girls", Curtis Harrington's "Killer Bees"  (1974) and even the remake of "Satans School..." in 2000.
My music is for Phoenix. Only she can sing it. Anyone else who tries, dies.

Universal Steve

Tough choice.  Salems Lot scared me when I first saw it. For a tv movie to make me jump it had to be good. The Night Stalker was my second favorite
and Duel 3rd but all very close.

Salem's Lot VS The Nightstalker for me...

Jimagineer

The creepiest and most real to me was "Gargoyles" because at the time my older brother had told me how he had seen a similar devil-like skull in Arizona when he was there a year before!  My other favorites were:  "Don't Be Afraid of the Dark" (I couldn't sleep for a week), "Trilogy of Terror" (Yikes!), and "Salem's Lot" (with the creepy floating kid - Lance Kerwin?).  The Night Stalker movies were also great!  Back in the day those TV movies were a great family event.  With only 3 channels, the networks were a force to be reckoned with.

Hi Jim!! Yeah, those TV movies were definitely a family event.........something we've sadly lost when my daughter can be in her room watching a DVD, my son in his room watching any of dozens of other channels, and Nancy and I are settling in to watch a movie.

With ONE TV and 3 CHANNELS, it forced everyone together to share an experience. A lot of the thing I love today I would have never chosen to be exposed to, but had no choice because we had 1 TV and we watched whatever my parents dictated. And those TV movies were part of that for sure.

Shoot, I just counted and I have SEVEN TVs in my house (before packing them all up to move). One in Jordan's room, one in Justine's room, one in the loft, one in the kitchen, one in the guest room, one in the Master bedroom, one in the garage.

Nobody HAS to watch anything they don't want, nobody HAS to share their viewing with anyone else because there's always another room with a TV. Therefore while the options are literally endless, it actually narrows your horizons because you never HAVE to watch or be exposed to anything you wouldn't pick for yourself. I was FORCED to broaden my horizons with more adult fare because my viewing options were limited to what my parents watched unless it was on Saturday morning.

It's an odd dichotomy that the exponential increase in options has led to en equally exponential narrowing of your viewing experience.
We're all here because we're not all there.
