A very nice thought. I'd like to do that as well.

I would wait until later in the week--but you can use the address from the Karloff website, and that will be fine:

Here's a story--I'll keep it short.  Sara and Spark and I--and a few others, too--attended a very small convention which was not well-attended.  Everyone was disappointed with the small crowd, and there were very few dealers, only a couple other celebrity folks--and one evening at dinner in the hotel dining room (it was a darn good dining room, by the way, which helped make up for the disappointment), Spark said, "I think this is the best convention we've ever done!"  Sara looked very surprised and said, "Why, how can you say that?  No attendance, not much here to attract people!?"  And Spark stopped, sort of baffled, as if that was the furthest thing from his mind (and it was!), and said, gesturing to all of us gathered at the table, eating and drinking and talking and laughing--"No, THIS is the best, all of THIS!  THIS makes it a GREAT convention!"  And we all agreed--we were having a great time, just friends "visiting".  That was Spark's way of looking at things--he had a keen eye for the sad realities, but--he always looked for the happy side.  He is sorely missed.

Sounds like he was a guy that had the wisdom to see the important things in life - and share them with his friends.  I take comfort in knowing that the memories we share with our departed loved ones and friends will stay with us forever.

Robert,
Sounds like Bill and i shared the same point of view. I've been to almost every Chiller Theatre show and my favorite ones were always the shows where attendance was thinner than usual. A little more elbow room and the chance to visit with the friends i've made over the years in a more relaxed environment. Nothing wrong with that... My sincere condolences to both Sara and yourself.

Robert, that was a very interesting perspective.  As a fellow attendee of that convention, I got to have dinner with David and Eileen Colton, I met you, Tim Herron, Mike Thomas, and actually had time to TALK to everyone!  Sounds like Spark always looked on "the bright side of life," to borrow from Monty Python.

I last saw Sara and Spark briefly at Monsterpalooza.  In 2006, the three of us had lunch at the Art Institute of Orange County, where Scott Essman presented a 75th Anniversary tribute to Frankenstein.  Rob Burman made up an actor as the Monster, and some of Brent Armstrong's sculptures were on display.  It was very well attended, and Sara and Spark couldn't have been greater.  It amazes me that I am at a point in my life where someone like Sara actually knows me on sight.  As a kid, I never would have believed this.  They were indeed a very kind and gracious couple.
