As of today, we're halfway there so I thought to share with you this
special edition of HorrorHound magazine devoted to the Hallowed Eve.
I bought it off a newsstand last October and enjoyed it so much, it's
now on my permanent re-reading list.
At a hundred full color pages, it's a fitting tribute not only to our
favorite 31st but also HorrorHound's twentieth anniversary. A mere
recitation of the contents should convince you of the exhaustive
research that went into its composition:
First off, a history of the occasion starting from the Celtic observance
of Samhain. From there we move on to reviews of costumes/masks, party
decorations, haunted attractions, the candy business, global celebrations
with a column on the events in Salem MA, breakfast cereals, music,
seasonal "pop-up" stores, movies and TV specials, even cooking shows!
For monster mask collectors like myself, there's generous coverage on
all our favorite studios: Don Post, Distortions Unlimited, Cinema Secrets,
Forum Novelties, Bump in the Night, Morbid Industries, Ghoulish Productions,
Rubie's Costumes, American Mask & Novelty, plus Trick or Treat Studios.
There's a two-page spread on masks/costumes by Ben Cooper, Collegeville,
and Halco, many pictured in their original window boxes.
The magazine concludes with an 8-page retrospective on the troubled
production/distribution/release of 2006-'07's indie-cult anthology
"Trick or Treat".
If you need to know anything about Halloween, its evolution and traditions,
THHoH has your answers. Find a copy if you can and keep it with your other
important "User Manuals".

Great tip! I just bought two copies, one for me and one for my sister in law. She's the other monster kid from our family🎃
