Frank-N-Stein - Arise from the Ashes

In the fall of 1967, a colossal 25-foot Frankenstein's monster loomed over 4619 E. Dunes Hwy, just east of Gary, Indiana, casting its shadow over the beloved Frank-N-Stein rootbeer and hotdog stand. This towering icon, a quirky landmark for locals and travelers alike, stood as a beacon of retro charm—until a fierce storm in 1982 left it battered and broken, vanishing into the night like a creature from a horror flick. For 42 years, the mystery of Frankie's fate haunted the community, whispers of his whereabouts fading into legend. Then, after two relentless weeks of door-knocking, phone calls, and fervent social media sleuthing, the truth emerged. Frankie hadn't been stolen or spirited away—he lay in ruins on a remote rural farm, later consumed by flames in a fiery end. But this isn't the end of the story. A new chapter is unfolding! A bold visionary is resurrecting Frankie from scratch, armed with nothing but grit and imagination—no forms, molds, plans, or instructions. A legend is rising again, stitch by stitch, ready to reclaim its place in American roadside history. Follow the build here: facebook.com/groups/franknstein

Sir Masksalot

'Fun post, great FB pics. Welcome to The UMA.
I've seen a good many Frankenstein figures over the years
but never on such a colossal scale as yours. Keep us
apprised of the progress, thanks, and hope it's never struck
by lightning. It might up and walk away!

Not being a member of FB, I was only able to see this one photo.

I also am not on Facebook (or any such site).

Could someone post a picture here of the original 1976 statue in color?  I'd like to see what it actually looked like.  I've seen various versions, but I'd like to see what it was like the day it was "born".

"The Universal Pictures version of Frankenstein's monster was chosen as a symbol for the restaurant. A short time after the 20 foot tall fiberglas roadside attraction was installed, Universal Pictures sent the owners a cease and desist notice for copyright infringement. The owners could not agree with royalty fees asked and decided to change the appearance of their statue.

An agreement was reached with Universal Pictures that they needed to remove the neck bolts, forehead scar, green face and hands plus change the black jacket and pants to red and gray, respectively."

So he started out in black with green skin.  The pink skin and red jacket came later.
