Can you separate art from the artist?

I actually can't get excited about any of these superhero films. They just don't compare with the real thing:

I want to share an update to my original post.  Several members of the cast and crew of the web series I referred to issued a statement.  They basically said they were proud of the series they produced but condemned any and all harassment of anyone.  They went on to state they find the allegations of the women against the lead actor credible.
Now I can view the series knowing many of those involved in the production of the series acknowledge the wrong doing of the lead.   He isn't the entire series.

A wrestling promoter (NWA) was asked a similar question about this recently in regards to booking talent.  He stated it's up to the fans if they want to watch them or not.

Even though Walter Brennan was a horrendous racist, I still enjoy "Red River".

How different was he from other people of his time? Most people back then, including Darwin and H.G. Welles had ideas on race, that would have had them cancelled today.

That goes beyond simple racism. That was an absolutely crass act, and would have been disgusting in any time period.

Yes, precisely! Let the paying fans/customers decide if something is offensive. They'll let you know.

I dont mind if creators have a view I dont share, so long as its not present in the work itself.

Some Harry Potter fans have been put off by some of JK Rowling's political/social views.

Her views are fairly vanilla though I might disagree on some details were I a Brit or a Scot.
