Hi all!
Been a long time since I've posted and I hope this question has not been answered previously.
I am considering projecting movies on a screen at a local park on Halloween night.
The event will be free admission.
Does anyone know the costs of licensing such films as Frankenstein, Dracula, Wolfman and the Mummy to be show that evening?
Most of this expense would come out of my pocket and I really don't want to spend a ton.
My apologies if this has been answered previously... I couldn't find any posts...
Thank you,
Dr Zeus

Hey Mike!
Understood, well I'm thinking about an outdoor "festival", after trick or treat for the entire (very small town) community to enjoy. Bring your own chairs to the city park "amphitheater ' where we erect a  screen with audio to let the kids enjoy these types of films (although I'm not certain entertainment from that Era is entertaining to today's media bombarded population) . Free of charge. I suspect older folk like myself might show up as well.
Eventually I'm thinking free popcorn, food trucks? "monsters"  waking amongst the crowd, etc just to expose everyone to what we all enjoy so much.
A quick Google search suggests $200 per film at minimum but, that absurd to me as universal would like to continue these films to be relevant to another generation.a showing like this could do nothing more than increase their exposure to all
And considering their age?

Thanx again,

Yes, I did a Google after my last post and you do have to pay a licensing fee, even if you don't charge admission.

If its not advertised,  and only for a few hours one night Universal will never know and prob wouldnt even care.
Morning, noon, or night, Anytime . . . . the count may strike. If you're caught you have to linger, Cause Dracula may bite your finger!

People even churches have been sued for showing movies without permission.  My local library paid a fee, don't know what it was, to show movies.  Public domain films are fair game.  Phantom, hunchback, night of the living dead, nosferatu.
You may be able to rent out a theater at your local movie theater for a fee.

I have considered renting a local theater due to the unpredictable nature of October weather in Ohio. But, I think an outdoor venue would be most appropriate.
I also WOULD like to advertise just to get the community involved... It would be nice if this could become an annual event.
I will need to look into the fees thru a licensing agent to get particular prices.
Thank you all for your input. If anyone else has any suggestions, please let me know!
