I was wondering what everyone thought of the Relic and Lake Placid?

I enjoyed both and for some reason they both reminded me of and took me back to the days of the old drive in theaters.

Neither are the conventional monster movies of the today.  Both had some good humor in them also.

The two cops in the Relic always talking about their coffee had me rolling.

Of course Betty White was HILARIOUS in Lake Placid.

Just thought I would see how others liked these off the cuff movies.

LAKE PLACID is great and does make me think of the Drive-In days.  I haven't seen THE RELIC in quite awhile.  Is that the one that takes place in a museum?  Have you seen THE RUNESTONE ('90)?  A low-budget film that features some Norse mythology & a giant werewolf-like creature (THAT got your attention, eh?), plus a funny, wisecracking police detective, played by Peter Riegert.  Usually gets terrible reviews, but I think it's a pretty good, albeit, cheesy romp.  I'll have to check out THE RELIC again, soon.

Yes, the Relic is the one about the Kathoga and takes place in the Chicago Field Museum.  I have been there so it makes the movie take on a different dimension.

I have seen The Runestone DVD jacket several times at the video store, never made myself rent it.  I might though, sounds like it could be fun.

The monster in THE RUNESTONE is pretty cool, kind of a throwback to the man-in-a-monster-suit days.  There's some crazy over-the-top gunfire in this, too.  The scenes with the heroine's freaked-out boyfriend are pretty goofy, though, IMO.

I really like the Relic, since I live in Chicago and have been to the Field Museum a bunch of time.  Plus, it's a fun movie.  I haven't seen Lake Placid in a few years, but it wasn't a bad movie.  Betty White was funny in it.

Betty White had some of the greatest one liners in the film and she stole the show.  I also liked Oliver Platt, he was a riot too and he played so well off of Brenden Gleason.
