A little walk with Imhotep

Jack Nisi Studio created the first IMHOTEP mask I ever saw around 1980.
He was paranoid about copyright infringement and seemingly lessened the
likeness .. but not too much >

A few years later, The Halloween Society threw caution to the wind and paid worthy tribute
to the character through its own limited edition >

Illusive Concepts deemed bigger better with their oversized version as seen
in catalog and collection >

Rubies Costumes took a stab at it as well, theirs becoming quite popular in
Halloween stores during its reign >

Among independent editions, Daniel Horne's rates favorably. I scored a copy late last year >

Few can measure up to Mike Hill whose life-sized figures are always a hit at conventions.
He should license the heads to maskmakers >

I saw this at a convention as well, the work of Brent Armstrong (if memory serves) >

During a 2001 visit to Universal Studios Hollywood, I was met at the front gate by
a temporary exhibit of wax figures depicting their classic monsters. The MUMMY was
especially impressive, sculpted by Leslie Punter for Madame Tussaud's >

Trick or Treat Studios brings us up-to-date with their fine Mummy mask,
currently available as Imhotep or Ardeth Bey >

Reply with pics of any IMHOTEP masks I've overlooked. If you've got a Mummy bust
to add, they're welcome too.

Paper Magic did a cool unlicensed Karloff named "Embalmy". But I can't find a pic.    I know a certain collector who tried it on at the Alex Theatre😉

Always thought the Savege Eye Mummy was supposed to be Karloff.

Just like in the film, his mask appearances have been very brief compared to hs more mobile counterpart.

Doh!

Great photos, Sir!

Mike Hill never disappoints. A few years ago, I picked up his Freddy Krueger silicone mask that Immortal Masks put out. It was the closest I could afford to an original piece of his. But yes, there should be more masks based on his work!

If this is it, no wonder you couldn't find a picture. It was catalogued without a name.
