I can't say what it is since I haven't seen it. What I am saying though is that targetting kids instead of old geezers like us isn't automatically a bad thing.

:-\

I think you should watch it first.   It's lame to people of any age.   10 year old me would have hated it.    I was turned on the the monsters via the Remco figs.   No reinvention there to appeal to kids.   Just the classic monsters made consumable for my generation.

I agree. That's why I liked monsters as a kid as well.

And that's still my bottom line. I still dote upon whatever I might have thought was cool looking as a ten year old. A great example of this phenomenon are the MPC Pop-Tops and the smaller Weird Monsters. I wasn't aware of them as a kid but I'm sure I would have loved them because the sculpts are so wild cool (plus the latter were available in family packs of Frito-Lay Corn Chips). They are therefore among my very favourite monster items these days.

Thats why what Uni does makes me scratch my head.   Cool is cool.   There are lots of younger fans into slasher stuff who now love the classics because of Neca, TOTS etc.

I had the little glow MPC as a kid a loved them. I had no clue they were sculpted almost 20 years prior.   They just looked cool.    I was born 20 years too late because I love all the old stuff.  Always have.

Something to note that you wouldn't catch if you don't wait til the end - this is a collaborative thing with Fortnite.
(The purple cube thing is an ongoing element in the game).

They introduced classic versions of The Mummy and Frankenstein last Halloween:

My kid's reaction was twofold. He was mad that they aren't doing the classic Larry Talbot (Chaney) Wolfman, but still wants to see what they do with these new versions.

He said "that was cheesy as all heck"
but then also glad that they are doing *something* new...

Keep in mind though that your son isn't exactly typical and thus representative of other kids.

Quote from: boompoppow on March 16, 2022, 05:20:13 PMThankfully - I have a son who is dragging me back to it, and I've fallen fully back in love as I watch the older films with him and pre-screen things I haven't seen in decades trying to figure out what he's ready to see and what needs to wait.

...he is looking for more monster kids (especially *actual* kids, since we're finding that most of his fellow 8 year olds don't understand why anyone would even watch those old things...)

Nope.  I made it a little over a minute in.  Nope. Nope. Nope.
