Earlier in the week, Northern California fans lost one of their more treasured television icons, CREATURE FEATURES host Bob Wilkins.

Bob's influence went far beyond local fans and into the science fiction and horror world at large, as detailed in the tribute we have up now on SciFi Japan.

George Lucas, Phil Tippett, Dennis Meuren, Tom Hanks, Robin Williams and other celebs and movie makers who grew up in the area have sited Bob Wilkins as an inspiration from time to time, especially Lucas, who also offered him a job with Lucasfilm at one time.

Most fans in this area first saw many of the Universal monster classics on Creature Features, with Bob Wilkins presenting them with pride (since they are in sharp contrast quality-wise to other movies he would have to show).

Check out the tribute with pictures and some clips from Bob's career at

He will definitely be missed! Believe me, as a fan of these films, Bob
Wilkins' passing has hit a lot of us harder than even Forry's did.

Just an FYI, there's nothing at all wrong with posting this here, but in a few days it will be moved to our Cemetery forum and merged with the other thread about this passing.

The Cemetery is a sub-forum of General Discussion.  You can start threads about the passing of anyone in any forum that is appropriate, or in The Cemetery.  After a few days, all of them are moved to that forum and archived as a lasting memorial to those who have left us.  Thanks for posting...

I was looking around for the appropriate category, but didn't see the Cemetery one, otherwise I would have put it there.

Sorry about that...

Not at all, it's easy to miss, and that's really more of an archive than a place to start these threads.  Starting it here is a perfectly fine thing to do.

I never got to see Bob on television, but I bought his book and some videos.  he was really good.  He'll be missed.
