Hey everyone. I'm trying to put together a list of year round haunted houses, dark rides, wax museums, fun houses, horror/sci-fi themed restaurants, etc.

Below I posted the list I have come up with so far but I know there has to be tons more out there. The ultimate goal is to visit all of these places and post my reviews on a website or blog.

Keep in mind I'm NOT looking for the seasonal haunted houses and events that pop up everywhere in September & October.

I've already visited some of these places and some on the list are attractions that have come and gone already (I have still included them for documentation's sake and to also give you a better idea of what I'm looking for). If you know of anything good I need to check out please let me know!

Thanks for everyone's help!

Also in Gatlinburg, TN is the fantastic Mysterious Mansion which has been open for around 30 years. I visited there last summer and it's still one of the best haunted houses I've ever seen, built into a real mansion.

The wax museum has an extensive horror section that's open year-round.  They have an expanded version at Halloween, but the regular version is long and very cool

i'll add that one to the list!  i was actually in gatlinburg and only visited the ripley's haunted adventure. unfortunately  i didn't see any mention anywhere of the mysterious mansion until AFTER we left.  guess i'll be making a trip back soon!

Danny's "Happy Haunting" disc has a lot of year-round stuff on it plus much more.  Really a must-have for monster kids.

When it's allowed to work its magic properly by the staff, the Mysterious Mansion is a thing of Gothic beauty. It has been updated a little, but the best parts are the parts that remain influenced by classic old dark house movies. At night the house is lit in purple light with fog rolling around the front yard and creepy music playing.

Inside you'll find multiple secret passageways where (when the staff allows the time) you'll have to discover the right path for yourself. It begins with a secret door behind a grand fireplace and includes rooms with multiple and hidden doors. Some paths lead right back to the same room. It's a lot of fun when they let you figure these things out for yourself, but sometimes when it's busy or the group seems lost they just have someone immediately show you the right door or (in a worst case scenario I experienced once) they just leave the doors propped open. That's no fun!

There's a great gag on the third floor of the winding staircase which overlooks the lobby. If you walk out onto balcony to look down, the floor drops a couple of inches and makes a loud metallic bang. If you've got vertigo this could give you a heart attack.

For my money, this beats Ripley's Haunted Adventure hands down, but it's a matter of taste. Ripley's delivers more modern scares, and the Mysterious Mansion has more of a old fashioned flair.

Don't forget Cortlandt Hull's WITCH'S DUNGEON.  Although he normally has it open for the halloween season, you can make an appointment with him to see it.

Well, in Georgia, located within the gates of Six Flags Over Georgia, is the world famous Monster Mansion, formerly known as the Monster Plantation.

This classic dark ride, built in 1981, is set inside a flooded, antebellum mansion. The mansion, owned by Missy Scarlett, is the setting for the monster's annual picnic, which has overflowed onto the mansion's grounds. Your boat journeys through the plantation's winding creek, passing scene after scene of monsters enjoying a warm summer day of festivity. However, soon the celebration noises fade into the distance and your boat is (purposely?) diverted into the marsh, a dark, decrepit portion of the plantation overrun with graveyards and marsh creatures. Finally, Sheriff Billy Bob and his pet monster Fritter-Bitter locate you and usher you out of the marsh, allowing you to say good-bye to your host Missy Scarlett and her pet monster, the most meanest monster on the plantation, Tatty-Too.

The Monster Plantation, while cute and not very scary (unless you're very young) is my favorite "haunted" attraction ever. It mixes classic dark ride elements with state-of-the-art effects. In fact, The Monster Mansion is the most extensive 4D amusement park ride in the entire world, with over 100 full-size audio-animatronics and 14 special effects.

The Monster Mansion is definitely a ride you should check out. The rest of SFOG is incredible as well.
