Check this out. I hope to heaven they restore the 1925 version with as much painstaking diligence Universal paid to Dracula. If so---this will be astounding. due October 13th.

Doesn't sound much different that the IMAGE Blu-Ray from a few years ago, except for the sound footage. That one had the best existing footage from the '25 release and this new one won't be any better in that regard.

Isn't that the same footage they used on the DVD release (the Ultimate Edition)?

The digitally restored and 1080p statements is what made me think perhaps they were putting extra effort into this release. If it isn't going to be anymore cleaned up (ala Dracula) why would Kino Lorber go through the efort of a release? I hope it gets the treatment. But if it doesn't....well, my dvd set will suffice. ;)

If you have the Milestone DVD, there's not much point in getting anything else, unless you want the HD.

That's the one. I'm happy with that.

Alas, this '25 will be about what we've always gotten.*

BUT -

- this Blu includes a big restored hunk of the '29-'30 semi-Talkie redo - with original audio.

-Craig

* The much-lauded UCLA restoration of the '25 (and BETTER!) cut supposedly continues...

Really the only reason to get this, if you have the previous Blu.
