need help identifying a movie

  I need help identifying a movie. The film was shot in the mid 70's.The village looked like "Planet of the Apes" cave mounds. Women ruled the village, and the men were second class citizens, made up of either breeders or workers. Please help, I'd love to see it again.

I believe you're right. "Planet Earth" was the sequel to Gene Roddenberry's "Genesis II" (1973), which was itself a failed pilot for a series. During this period in the mid-'70s, Roddenberry had several TV-movies that were intended as series pilots, including the supernaturally-themed "Spectre."
