I was digging through my cds for some seasonal mood music and stumbled upon my all-time favorite monster song.  I had the 45 rpm record when I was 5 or 6 years old and played it all the time.  I gave the record to a collector friend of mine a long time ago, but tracked it down on cd a couple of years ago.  Just wondered how many of you have heard this song.  It's "Batman, Wolfman, Frankenstein Or Dracula" by The Diamonds, released in 1959.
The lyrics go like this:

I love to take my baby to the movie show
So I can try to smooch her while the lights are low
But she won't cuddle to a story of romance
There's only one way I've got a chance

It takes the Batman, Wolfman, Frankenstein or Dracula
To put her in the mood for love
It takes the Cat Girl, Dog Boy, Creature From The Black Lagoon
To make her feel like makin' love
It takes a Monster From Outer Space
To make my baby want my embrace
And when I hold her, she's like a dream
If only she can hear somebody scream

She doesn't go for parking down in Lover's Lane
And lot's of moonlight doesn't drive this girl insane
She thinks that dreamy music really is a bore
But I've found the bunch she's looking for

It takes the Batman, Wolfman, Frankenstein or Dracula
To make her tender as can be
It takes the Cat Girl, Dog Boy, Creature From The Black Lagoon
To get her makin' love with me
If there's a Madman whose teeth are curled
Who grows a Bedbug that wrecks the world
She gets romantic, it's really quaint
When all the other women start to faint

THAT'S my kind of WOMAN!
" Perhaps he dimly wonders why, there is no other such as I. "

I've never heard it (I was only 6) but I'd like to!

It's a fun song! I downloaded it with a collection of 50s and 60s monsters songs from the music BLAARGH! There were a couple of songs recorded with the same theme, such as "My baby's in love with a monster man" How cool that you have the 45! I can't imagine what it would take to find it now, or what the $ would be.

Actually, that's why I am an idiot.  I gave the 45 to an oldies collector friend of mine about 8 years ago!
